SCR has cancelled this weekend's event, for those of you who were going to attend. There is to be a e-mail sent to entrants and workers.

Perhaps this will be the nadir for TT with a rebirth in 2013. Track events need to return to this viable series. TGPR is a nice place but, it's really only a Level 2+. With the loss of Nashville, and CMP, RAtl & Robeling being iffy it needs a shot of B12 or something.

I am also disappointed that this event has been cancelled. I believe a properly structured TT/PDX event at CMP can be successful, but good communication with potential participants is a must. I have been participating in TT/HC for nearly 20 years, and get email notifications of events put on by other regions. I'm already registered for Talladega because I received an email telling me registration was open. I received NOTHING about this event. I don't spend a lot of time on the forums, and a lot of people NEVER visit them. Especially for this event, which was added to the schedule after the 2012 SEDIV schedule was set at the beginning of the year, communication was sorely lacking.

I agree with Larry about the communication, seems to be a problem within the organizers. As far as E-mail, Craig Farr has already sent out a message from the Time Trial Commitee to all TT participants about the cancelation, only hours after finding out! That,s the way it is supposed to work. This is a very bad cituation for everyone in SCR, especially with it having been a tribute event. Maybe with some restructuring, they can get back on their feet, and again, put on the kind of events we know they are capable of. Plenty of good people are available within SCR, that can be put to use to get things rolling smoothly again.

Another huge concern I have is now I need 2 more events to qualify with enough events for year end points. I intend on running The Dragon again and then Roebling. If Roebling gets canceled is will be after TGPR and I will not have the opportunity to make up another event. Is Roebling "iffy" or going to happen this year?

There was indecision early on within SCR about having an event at all.. My impression is the last couple have been marginal in attendance, and they were just going to skip it. Then the Memorial idea seemed to rekindle interest, so they jumped in- maybe too late.

Zenki, until the TT committee says so, don't take my word for it, but it is my expectation that cancelled events will decrease the number of required events to qualify for year end points. Ted may be able to speak to this. By my recollection, this is what has happened in the past.

I think the rules say you must compete in 1/2 the events. Cancelling CMP brings the number down to 8, so 1/2 is 4. If RRR was to be cancelled, the number would still be 4.
TT at CMP has suffered from poor communication, IMHO, for the last several events which were held there. I personally sent emails to a number of competitors encouraging them to run at the last event there. Some of them were unaware there was an event, thinking it had been cancelled.

I think the rule is 1 more than half. I think that was what happened last year.

Dustin... we had 9 events scheduled... we are now at 8. The SEDIV TTR reads "To qualify for a class championship, a driver must compete in 50% of the SEDIV TT designated points events on the calendar as distributed after the SEDIV Annual Meeting."
So, to qualify for a Championship, you would need to participate in a minimum of 4 events.
I am waiting on a definite word from Bucc Region but I would plan on that event happening. TGPR is also a great event and I know several of us from CCR are talking about carpooling and splitting rooms.
It is disappointing when an event has to be cancelled but it is important to remember that Regions HOST an event but Divisions ATTEND and WORK the event. As HOST, the Region is responsible for creating schedule and supplementary rules, getting sanctions, presenting the event, marketing the event, managing the event, offering a good value, pulling together staffing and planning the event. For a number of reasons, SCR made the decision that was best for their region in this situation but low attendance did have an effect. MOST regions in SEDIV have cancelled an event at one time or another and they are responsible to their members to decide what is best when a decision like this has to be made. This event was also to be a memorial to Charles Bifano who passed away last year... he was a great guy, a very good driver and an instructor for many here in the Southeast. There is a drive to raise money for his daughter's scholarship fund and if you would like to donate, please contact SCR Assistant RE Melanie Murray at melanie@scsportscar.com Your help is appreciated and funds are going to a good cause... he was one of US and he is missed. Thanks!
We need to support all events in the Southeast Division... solo, time trial, road races. The CMS Daylight to Dark Road Race was a great success due to the road racers who came from our region and outside of our region... and the people who volunteered to work it who came from our solo drivers, time trial drivers, our regular worker/volunteers/staff and the people who helped from 5 other regions. We all work together to make good things happen... and we have a lot of fun in the process! Thanks for your part!
