Live timing is a nice thing to have, but in the grand scheme of things it's not really that important. The important part is getting out there and putting down the fastest times you can. If you start to focus too much on what other people are putting into their times it can make you lose focus I feel. It can be unsettling sometimes knowing what others in your class have put down and can make you nervous. And if you really want to know what other people in your class are putting down then do go ask them!! It's a sport based on cars and socialization. What better way to find out what you're up against than to go talk to them? It's all friendly competition. Because at the end of the day whether you won or lost you can still have a good time with your fellow class competitors and have a cold one or five.
And the people involved with running CCR and it's events aren't getting paid to do these things. We do them because we love the club, the sport, and the people in it. It's not for the glory. So if something like live timing isn't able to be done at our events, then so be it. Nobody can dedicate every waking second to the club and the sport, though I'm sure we'd like to. If every waking second of our free time was spent on trying to make things like live timing work nothing else would get done. If someone else has an idea or a notion to take a stab at making live timing work I honestly don't feel that Duckles would argue with the help one bit.
Just beware you may start having the urge to punch babies as well...
