THANK YOU to AJ and the autocross core group who have made this such a fun season!
Yesterday, Jon and I talked briefly to AJ about how well the season has gone. He laughed, and credited the core-group who actually take care of the minute-by-minute details. It is a tribute to the quality of the CCR autocross program that so many good folks fall in to make these events work, and to make AJ's job look easy.
I am amazed how much the CCR autocross program has grown and improved over the years. We have a full schedule, great sites, tough competitors, quick posting of results, and well-organized events. It's easy to forget all this is made possible by a small group of volunteers! For all the times I forgot to say it during the year, THANK YOU!

I have said and still can not say this enough. Thank you to everyone who came out all season long. Bigger thanks to everyone who helped put these events on the entire year. :applause:
This club lacked a solid core group for a long time. This year things have changed in a BIG way. We went from maybe three people doing a lot of work for a large group of people, to now having about a dozen people if not more working hard and well together. We all noticed when issues arose and quickly jumped to correct them as a team. Certain areas started to self evaluate and took matters into their own hands. A couple found that new forms or paperwork were needed and took it upon themselves to just make it. I was shocked to see it when it happened in a good way. Thank you EVERYONE that has helped put these events on. These events would not be run as well or as smoothly as they have without you. :applause:
Coming into the season I had a fairly good idea as to what I was getting into. I learned quickly that there was so much more. Thank you Mike Licursi for being a fantastic co-chair. We worked very well together to deligate tasks, bounce ideas off each other, keep the other on their toes to get things done, and many more things. I could not have done this job without your help buddy. Great driving this season and FANTASTIC course designs! :applause:
Timing has an abundance of thanks to give. There are many people that helped all year long. Chris, D'Amico, Sotomayer, Elks are the biggest I can think of right now. Going into the year, we had no chief of Timing. Oops! I was the only one that knew that. Michael D'Amico was the only one nearly qualified for the role and I heard he was not going to be around this season. With a long talk we understood what the each was thinking and he stayed with us. Thank you Michael! :applause: To continue the story. The club had a fantastic addition last year. Steven Duckworth finally decided to get out of video games and start driving in real life. Not only did he come to compete, he was willing to help in anyway possible. With his computer background, he helped in timing and ran with the task. Thanks to his hard efforts over a few months, we now have live timing, and many clubs followed suit at the word of his attempts. In the late summer, Michael saw Steven's efforts and politely passed the torch onto him to be the new chief of timing. Thank you for everything you've done for us Steven. :applause:
Workers. :hangs head: argh! I finally managed to get this monkey off my back. Thank you to Robert Faulkner for presenting a new way of our club to go about doing this. It was a beneficial tool for the membership and we learned a lot from it. :applause: However, work got in the way. Travis Toliver kindly volunteered to take over the role. I tried to talk him out of it, but he insisted and did a good job with it. I look forward to seeing how you do things next year. :applause:
Jon Byrd did a great job at recruiting safety stewards this year. We lacked in this area and had the same four people doing it every event. They felt obligated to come out because of this knowledge. Now, we have plenty to cover and rotate. Of course, thank you Jack McGahey for all that you have done for us. You have taken a lot of time off of work for this club. Happy retirement also sir. :applause: As both of our well seasoned veterans stepped out to focus on other life goals, Amy Tsang stepped up and took over the queen b role for safety. Congrats to Amy and Travis on the wedding! :applause:
Thank you and welcome back Josh Elks. You have given up much sleep to be sure everyone is checked into the system every event. Now to steal your thunder. Steven Duckworth on a whim brought his wife out to one event. She had a great time and started tagging along to every race he was doing, including working club races. She graciously gave up time to help the club with registration and timing. Believe me she is not a morning person, but they are bareable for her now. All this time was volunteered completely free! Both Cyndi and Steven were putting in a lot of core work and only Steven was driving at the time. Now we have Cyndi driving. Welcome to our crazy sport. :applause:
Thank you to many novices for stepping up to help where needed. Travis Ball, Andy Hildreth, Alan Johns and Tammy volunteered sleep to be one of the first people at every event to do waivers. Thank you! :applause:
I sure as heck hope I didn't miss anyone. I know there are a few I didn't mention and I appologize. These were by far the most impactful people this season. Please be sure to thank everyone of these people the next chance you get. To the best of my knowledge, everyone will be returning next year for continued punishment and to step up how our club runs yet another notch. Thank you all!!!

One oversight, Eric Peck. He has helped fill our entry lists with more good people, like Kevin. He has posted our events on the FB scca page, and many other tasks.

Another shout out to Eric. He has been the PR front for the club this year.... doing the Facebook events, giving out cards and talking to people at Cars & Coffee, and generally recruiting for the sport!

On behalf of the entire SCR Solo Team - It's been a true pleasure working in partnership with the CCR Core Team this year - I know we couldn't have had a complete and successful season here in SCR without your help generous site sharing and outstanding course design among other things. You've got a GREAT team of supporters and volunteers that make events run smoothly and are a blast to participate in! Congrats on a great solo season I know Roy and Daniel Blakeney (SCR Solo Directors for 2013) will enjoy working with you as much next year as I did this year!! Here's to an even better 2013 season for all of us and our collective group of solo enthusiast participants ! Donna Littlejohn SCR Solo Director - 2012

Awe shucks.
We have a great product. I feel that if we can get people to come to an event, they'll be hooked like I was. Thanks to everybody that rolls out on non-race weekends and weeknights to hit the shows and cruises to advocate for the SCCA. Cars and Coffee - Autofair - NC/SC - CCi - Hendrick Northlake's New Monthly meet...
Shout out to Josh Elks here too - He's done a great job talking up SCCA Solo in circles where I don't fit in anymore.
Our events are safe, FUN and well run. The problems we have are pretty minor, yet we are committed to solving those problems and continuing to improve. I'm proud of you guys for not just saying: "Thats good enough".
I also want to give a big "Bravo Zulu" (Google it) to our members that travel around to compete and help at neighboring clubs events. (You know who you are) We get alot of support for our events from Triad, SCR and others, and I think it's important that we return the favor. I hope in the coming year, we can add a few more to the CCR Traveling squad.
--edit-- Oh - And TONY PARRISH - Your outstanding photography is a huge recruiting tool by itself, but you also have a big impact in "the scene" by covering our events and exposing people from other types of racing to us. There are others that take photos from time-to-time, but you've been there for us consistently - THANK YOU!

tl;dr, but thank you everyone that has helped in any way, shape, or form at any event. Especially the heavy hitters who devote way too much time to these events. It has been a joy getting to know everyone better this year and meeting so many new people. Let's keep up the good work and continue to host these great events.

As much as I appreciate the thanks I have received, and trust me it really means a lot to me on a personal level, I think we can all agree that we owe AJ and Licursi the biggest thanks of them all. The two of them have spent more time that I can measure in between work and their personal lives keeping this going. They've coordinated inter-club activity, amazing sites and even more amazing events. To even be considered a part of core group with these two feels like an honor. Their confidence and trust in the rest of the core group allowed this season to be so successful and hopefully to only get better. If you two ever have need of a tire warmer again, don't even hesitate to grab my keys and throw your tires in the back of the 3.
Each event has been tiring, long, draining of energy, and sometimes even on the brink of angering *cough* the 24 and no sleep *cough*, but never once was I not having the time of my life. I've made some great friends and family as well from this club. So I say thank you to AJ, Licursi, Byrd, Casino, Mr. and Mrs. Duckles, Marske, Andy, Eric, Shennanigans/Mecca, the Tolivers, James, D'Amico for the great learning experience and the privilege to have worked along side you guys this past season and to more in the future.
It has been said already, but it's worth repeating that the mutual help between clubs like SCR and Triad has made it an even better season and thanks is deserved for Donna, Hodges, and Daniel for sure for taking it upon himself to be the impromptu Novice Chief.
Thanks goes beyond the core group. To the people who showed up consistently and helped in any way they could. To the people who helped make the events as memorable as they were. Ball, DiApice, Jay, Couture, Kuhn, Jennings, Mack, Tony, Phil, Rankins, Jocelyn, Jeannia, Ross, Joe, and countless others. It's not the cars or the locations that make this club and sport work, but the people.
I want to thank again the people who each event have been instructing me on how to improve. Driving my car and telling me what it needs and showing me what it can do, riding with me and telling what I'm doing right or wrong. Giving me constant support to be a better driver. Showing me where I'm sloppy and how to clean it up. AJ, Casino, Duck, Kuhn, Licursi I can honestly say helped me tremendously throughout this season and I can honestly look back and say I have improved, not with arrogance but with full gratitude and appreciation and understanding that I still have a ways to go. So again thank you guys for the education.
And a personal shout out to Michael Feeney; you've have been a personal standard I've been trying all season to reach. Every event I've been to and you've been there my only goal has been to beat you, all in friendly competition of course. It was nice having some STF challenge some of the year and what a challenge you've been. You've been pushing me to do better and haven't even known it. And again thank you for letting me, your only competition at NCAC, finish my runs in your car. I didn't best you this season, but I hope to be on your level someday. So keep pressuring me to do better.
I know I missing more names here than I should and I apologize to anyone who I forgot.

I appreciate the thanks I have received and really appreciate it. I would like to thank AJ, Licursi, the Joshs, Casino, Eric, Amy and Steven for also being there for me and supporting me. You have all become great friends. I couldn't imagine spending my weekends with anyone else. I know some of these events have been tiring and exhausting for us all, but I have never once regretted any of it.
For a long time I couldn't understand why Steven was gone every weekend to drive his car around a parking lot with cones, but now I understand why he loved it so much. And the main reason is the people. And now you have sucked me in and I owe much thanks for that,
Thanks to AJ for trusting me to help with registration and always grabbing me for those course walks (it helped alot)... my pool is always open (with Yeungling of course)....
Thanks to Licursi for getting me in the car for the first time at the "24". Also thanks to him for getting me a co-drive with Joe, I could never thank the two of you enough for that.
Thanks to the Josh's.... it has been a pleasure to sit beside you in the mornings at registration.... I couldn't imagine two other people to sit beside at 6 in the morning, its been a pleasure.. can't wait to do it again next season,
To Amy thanks for getting in the car with me and willing to teach me to drive a stick shift, I will never forget us going through the finish at the "24" screaming and me getting right back in line to do it again. I think between you and Casino I'll be driving a manual in no time.
To Eric thanks for riding with me and instructing me when you have, sorry for bouncing your head off the roll bar and punching you in the head when I got excited......so thanks for taking my abuse. Now your goal is to get Nancy out there, and me and the Josh's would love her help in registration if she is willing.
Again thanks to those who have been instructing me and pushing me to improve. I think the reason this season has been a blast is the wonderful people.
And to Steven, when I mentioned that I wanted to spend more time together I couldn't imagine me ever doing this. Thanks for always being there and supporting me along the way. Now get my car fixed and ready for next season.
I know I have forgot people along the way and I'm sorry...

We too will find a way to screw over the club with the lowest attendance by counting every single one of their entries! Wait... I mean... we'll get a better showing and do better! Yeah.. that's it!!

WOW! This is why I love these people! We all spread the thanks and are so appreciative of everyone around us each weekend.
I admitted I forgot some people. Thank you Eric Peck for ALL of your help this season. He has gone above and beyond taking it upon himself to spread the word about our sport. He spams a lot of forums and facebook about each clubs events, along with going to a bunch of car meets to further spread the word and recruit membership. Thank you sir :applause: How could I forget those doing work away from the trailer. Our tech staff shows up early and takes a lot of heat for broken cars. It is a challenging task believe me. Thank you to to Jeff, Richard, and Cameron Raley, Taylor Carr, Michael Kuhn, and Mark Marske. :applause:
