Robbinsville /Graham County Needs

Folks...
this is a good opportunity to help our friends in Robbinsville and the Graham County Rescue Squad / EMS that works each of our SCCA Dragon Hillclimbs. Please do what you can to help and let them know in writing that our hillclimbers appreciate them and all they do! THANKS!

The Graham County Rescue Squad has received permission from the Medical Director for Graham County to start a new program to help treat drug/medication overdoses in Graham County.
We are attempting to reduce the number of overdoses by making Naloxone available for our first responders to use in emergency situations. This is the antidote used in emergency medical settings to reverse respiratory de
pression due to opioid overdose in addition to an educational program on when it’s to be use for First Responders.

Having this Medication available to our county’s first responders will give the County EMS the extra time they need to get to the Person/teenager/child that has overdosed since we live in vast rural area and possibility save more lives.

This medication is given nasally with no needles so there is no risk of the first responders accidentally sticking themselves or having to give the person a shot. Once the medication is administered the person will start to breathe again usually within 30 second to 1 minute. Narcan is a no harm drug. If a first responder gives this drug to a person that is not having an opioid overdose, there is no adverse side effect.

The Graham County Rescue Squad is asking for donations of any amount to buy the medication, the nasal atomizer, and small storage cases. This will cost approximately $24.00 per kit and we are going to need approximately 40 kits. Any donation towards this cost would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, Breaks my heart, but Jeannie and i have no money to donate, even to this noble cause. We are squeezing by.But another thought crossed my mind. Robbinsville has a parade. Too late for this year, but maybe we could Put a float toghether for next year And find donations for our "dragon" float.
All we need is a trailer , lovely lady , and a few flowers, to impact this area.
Then we could ask for donations for this cause. "Chasing the Dragon in the name of the First responders".

Great idea, I'm closer to Robbinsville than most of the hill climbers and have an open trailer that could be used as a float base. As for the pretty girls...you might need to look elsewhere. I think this is a good idea for next year.

Shelia, thank you for thinking this is a good idea.I would be glad to help any way i can, to make this happen. Robbinsville supports us , we need to support Robbinsville. Really this is a good cause regardless of where.

Great ideas. TED - can the post on Graham County needs be posted on our other forums or a main page? I bet others are willing to help, but a lot of them will never look at the TT forum as it has more limited participation. Solo and Club racers may be interested in helping even though they do not do the hillclimbs. This is an important cause, without boundaries. Thanks.
