Looking for a Miata for next season

Ok, gonna go ahead and post this even though it may be a month or two before I'm actually ready to make a purchase, figure I can go ahead and start getting an idea of what is out there in case something good comes along in the mean time.

I'm looking for a basic Miata to run next season. I love my Camaro to death and it's a lot of fun driving it, but now that I've gotten a little bit of autocrossing experience under my belt I want to push to be more competitive. And well that just isn't going to happen in my Camaro unless I sink another 10 grand into it and truly set it up for CP, or put a stock engine back in it so that I can run a different class but that option isn't going to happen

Right now I'm looking at something in the 2k to 3k range. I don't really have any specific preferences on it, it's just got to be in good running condition. I'll run it stock initially and put money into it as I get the money. I know there are some great ones out there already set up, but they tend to go for 5k+ and I just don't have that much money to throw at it right now.

So if anyone has any or sees any good deals on one, please pass the info along to me! I'll even consider things other than Miatas if there are any good deals, as long as it's rear wheel drive, has power steering, and can easily be a competitive car. I just picked Miatas cause they are so easy to be competitive in, and they are cheapish to work on

I like the 1.6 if for no other reason, no OBD2 and some of the stuff is easier to work on than the 1.8

Thanks for the help everyone. I bought the Miata from Mr Brinkley's nephew today.

I am now looking for a set of wheels and tires for it. Either a set of stock 14 / 15s with tires that have some tread on them (this will just be something to get me around for now until I can get a set of extreme performance tiers), or a set of after market 15 x 7.5 (want to stay STS legal) wheels.
