Im going to make a concerted effort to give the TT and RR events the same PR treatment I've done for our SOLO events. Dustin/James: Please remind me when these events are getting closer!

What is needed in order to compete in the Dragon Hill Climb? Other than the obvious, car, helmet, etc? Any kind of license?

Tad. They have what's called the first gear program. They have loaner suits gloves. You will get a permit I think to compete. But I call dibs on co driving. No roll cage in the mini.

Hey Tad... thanks for your interest. We'd love to have you running with us. (I also know where a Mini 4 point roll roll bar can be purchased if anyone with a Mini decided to go for it!) The car prep depends mostly on what car you are running and what mods you have made. Basic Street Prepared classes require a 4 point roll bar (not a cage), racing belts and a fire extinguisher. Good article here on taking a Solo car to Time Trial legal. www.sedivtt.com/2012/01/how-to-ready-your-solo-car-for-time-trial/For your personal gear, you need a SA2005 up helmet and nomex gear. To help with the cost, the Second Gear Program does offer free loaner gear (all but helmet) on a first come first serve basis. This includes nomex suit, nomex gloves, nomex socks, balaclava, arm restraints, and some shoes (leather uppers required). I keep the inventory and issue t by event but you are welcome to use it for several events while getting started. For licensing, you can run track events on a Novice license (fill out the form and send in your money $35). To run hillclimbs, normally, you need a full level 4 license. We do offer a School at the Dragon Hillclimb which includes classroom and mentoring... and that would allow you to run the event on a Novice license. You can get a full Level 4 license by running 3 track Time Trial events successfully or by attending the TGPR School April 13-14 in Munford, AL. Sound like fun? That's because it is... here is the view at the Dragon... More info at www.sedivtt.com Feel free to write with more questions to ted@ccrscca.com

Ted mentions the School at the Dragon Hillclimb. For those who don't know, Ted does a wonderful classroom session before the event, then mentors, like myself, work with the driver during the weekend to provide feedback to the drivers questions. It does not take a lot of your time, and you have a chance to meet some good folks, who may do more than just run the event. One of mine has even become the CCR TT rep! My point here is this, we as experienced drivers can have a comforting effect to the novice, in a strange enviornment, with very little effort, SO, step up guys!! We have a group of VERY SKILLED drivers that can give back to the sport and it does not cost a thing. We can continue to grow the events we love, and grow the program as well!

Hillclimb=awesome. I did my first one at the dragon last year then got my TT license at TGPR in October. I am hoping to do both hillclimbs this year and most of the TT races. Auto-x is fun but I've really enjoyed the higher speed events without the risks of wheel to wheel racing.
Ps. Ted Theodore and Craig Farr are great instructors and both will help you get started safely.

Exactly...absolutely the most fun you can have in a car. TT folks are laid back, share experiences (heck...many will share cars!) and not only do you get some serious track experience - you have hillclimbs!!! Nothing better than blasting up a hill and avoiding the scenery! It is a challenge and great fun. Even if you aren't sure about driving - come on out and spend some quality time working at an event, the hillclimbs are very worker friendly and great social event, as well. You will see some very unique cars that are purpose built for these events and are incredible to watch (and hear!). See you there!
