Thanks for the video. It always helps me to see where the faster drivers are saving time.

I'll post the videos that Kurt put together for our runs. It was our first time driving his Lotus on Hoosiers and we might have been just a little excited. We were high-fiving repeatedly and giggling like little school girls. Kurt added some clever annotations to the videos to break up the monotony of all the runs, so make sure you have annotations turned on.
Here are Kurt's runs. He posted: 47.7, 47.0, 45.7, & 45.8
Here are my runs. The times in order are: 47.5, 46.1, 46.3, & 45.2

Joe, If you launched it like Kurt you had a 44.XX
Great job with the hands and your pre-loading of the wheel getting into the sweepers. That is the reason why you were able to commit to the throttle in the final turn of your fastest run. If your hands were crossed up, you would never be able to hammer the gas and steer through the last lane change the way you did.
Kurt, nice job as well, but you do cross your hands up a bit in the sweepers. Watch Joe's hands entering the sweepers, as he reaches with his right hand (hits the horn button) and grabs the wheel before turning into the sweeper.

Thanks for the evaluation on the videos Mike; I was hoping someone would provide some constructive feedback. I did notice that Kurt was launching much better than me. I guess I've been driving my automatic BRZ for too long! lol!

Great advice Mike, I'm going to try and work on walking my hands a bit more this weekend. I just took another couple looks at the videos and the difference in what we're doing is way more clear to me now. The only way I'm gonna catch Joe is just get way more seat time than him.
Although, I don't think I'll get as much out of events elsewhere as I would with a co-driver. That really is the right way to do it.
Joe, I try to launch around 4k rpms. Perhaps some empty-road hoonage or a trip to piedmont one saturday is in order.

I'd be more than happy to help you hoon your car around if you go to the Triad TnT this Sunday.

I never use all the battery in my camera, I think I'm going to start walking up to random people and sticking my camera to their car, maybe get some interesting shots.
Also, whenever Joe isn't co-driving, there's always a seat open for anyone who wants or needs it.

It was hard enough to try to find a time to RIDE with you at the novice school... much less now that this invitation is out there...

I was looking for you for a few of the runs later on in the day Andy and couldn't find you... Seemed like bad timing.
Are you going to the triad TnT?

LOL you know I'm just messing with you man. You have a popular little car for obvious reasons.
I will be there, and I will be sure to hunt you down and sucker-punch whoever your passenger is at the time to steal a ride-along from you. So let this be a warning to anyone riding along with Kurt on Sunday...

You are welcome to stick your camera on my speed anytime!

Yeah watching mark and mike's videos showed me where my major mistakes were which unfortunately I already knew about but I couldn't execute it Here's my third run, a 46.5. I picked up another 0.5 on my last run, with a lot more time out there. My 213k mile engine has about had it as well. I'll be replacing it with a newer engine after the Dixie tour.

Marcus, your run looked pretty tight. I would say your biggest mistake is trying to compete against 219whp S2000's with a 213k mile 94' Miata with half the ponies. ;D

Seems to be very course dependent and how new my tires are ;D My co-driver proved this at our first tour last October: T 1 98 Geoff Walker 2008 Honda* S2000 CR Tennessee [198] Murfreesboro, TN Southeast 55.571 56.598(1) 54.226 53.722 53.722 Hankook* T 2 112 James Cathers 1994 Mazda* Miata R East Tenne [12] Knoxville, TN my wallet Southeast (0.143) 60.229(2) 56.554(1) 54.239 53.865 53.865 Hankook* T 3 66 Nelson Ireson 2006 Mazda MX-5 Arkansas Little Rock, AR NIKH Enterprises Midwest (0.716) 57.840 56.206 56.668 54.581 54.581 Keep in mind it was REALLY cold and the STS cars were out rawing all the STR with ease. I should of been running r1rs, but I wasn't. I ran my standard 225 rs3. I was way off pace the leaders, busy getting use to the speed of a national type course I guess, lol. So a NA in STR can be competitive, it's just not the easiest way to go about it. Although I'm fairly confident it's the cheapest way ;D My car needs some more prep, new(er) engine, new bushings and ball-joints. It'll be more consistent after that. Edit: I thought you crazy s2k guys made 230rwhp?

I agree Miatas doing well in STR is course dependent. A Miata has won the tighter transition heavy course of the Dixie Tour each of the last 2 years.
I would put down 240whp on a different dyno. The dyno I tuned my car on is what some people consider a slow dyno, but my co-driver Mark (a lifelong mechanic) explained that the dyno I ran on is accurate. And in fact the faster dynos are bogus, since they were designed around an engine and not the mathmatical formula that it is suppose to be.

Come out to Dixie next weekend, we're going to make it a 3rd ;D Yeah I figured you put down 219rwhp on a mustang dyno or something, I was just giving you grief. I actually have less than half of that
