In short, go for it. As long as the cat is stock, you're cool.
From the rulebook:
Any part of the exhaust system beyond (downstream from) the header/manifold or catalytic converter, if so equipped, may be substituted provided the system meets the requirements of 3.5. Stainless steel heat exchangers are permitted only if the physical dimensions and configuration remain unchanged. Modifications of any type, including additions to or removal of, the catalytic converters, thermal reactors, or any other pollution control devices in the exhaust system are not allowed and the system must be operable. Replacement catalytic converters must be OE if the vehicle has not exceeded the five-year/50,000 mile warranty period as mandated by the EPA. Converters must be of the same type and size and used in the same location as the original equipment converter(s). This does not allow for a high performance unit. If the vehicle has exceeded the five-year/50,000 mile warranty period, replacement catalytic converters must be OEtype as per Section 13.

And section 3.5...
3.5 MUFFLERS Adequate mufflers are required for Solo events. The criterion of “adequacy” is not what the exhaust system consists of, but the sound level. Any car deemed by the Event Chairman or his designated representative to be excessively loud shall not compete without acceptable modifications installed on the car.

It really is a different feeling. The accelerator pedal is electronic ( fly by wire technology), so you don't get a lot of feedback. Just different.

It just feels a little wierd during auto -x. Maybe it's just me. Seems like a slight lag when I step on it, then I press a little harder and I break the tires loose. I think it is a matter of getting used to it and anticipating the lag. Kinda like "looking ahead" as my "Supreme Being" of an Instructor once told me!!! ;D ;D ;D

D**nyankee38....If you haven't purchased the Borla exhaust yet I know where a used one is for sale. ;D As some may have noticed the volume/sound of my Z changed recently. I removed my Borla and installed a custom, home made, Titanium, not stainless, exhaust. If you're interested in the Borla TD PM me or see me at the next auto-x.
I do agree that the fly-by-wire in the Z is kinda odd, but you get used to it. The delay in WOT becomes 2nd nature.

LOL....at least someone knows what I'm talking about!!! Yep...replaced/replacing all Quadrajunks with Holleys....last one to get the treatment will be the Vette...picked up a nice Holley slightly modified and "borrowed" from a friend in the drag racing biz. Traded him a few bowtie parts fer it.... I feel your pain. The old Saab had really bad throttle/turbo lag..it could easily take a full second or two for it to pick up.
