I have an '87 Toyota MR2, I have replaced suspension bushings with a pro-thane urethane kit, minor weight reductions, still had full interior, and an engine swap. I am running the 20 valve black top 1.6 liter versus the stock 16 valve 1.6 4AGE. stock transmission and stock suspension. I have been told I should enter X-Mod or SSM. Any pointers? I plan to add K-SPORT coilovers and a much wider stanced tire/wheel setup in the near future.

SSM has a better PAX and with the interior I believe you are legal for SSM with what you described. The other option would be X-Prepared. There is no X-Mod.

Depends on tires. If you run DOT slicks SSM but if you are running full cantilever slicks XP is your class. Also consider adding a Tire classification if you are running street tires.

I hope you're on street tires so I can have a Tire-SSM competitor!!!

I have a set of kumho victoracers on 14" TSWs that I'll most likely be using. My street tires are terrible kumho ecsta AST 195/50/15 on focal f9s. No grip at all. Just ordered BFG sport comp 2s 205/50/16 and 225/45/16 but not sure I'll have the wheels in by Laurens. Tires will be here tomorrow. Wheels are about 10 days out.
