Four students in the Belmont Abbey College Motorsports Program are inviting you to the first annual Crusader Car Show, Saturday April 13, 2013.
The car show will take place in front of Belmont Abbey College in the lower level parking lots, where admission will be FREE to the general public, and proceeds from car entries/vendors will go to support the Belmont Abbey Motorsports Program and Project Meet Me Halfway.
Project Meet me halfway is a non-profit organization started by country music recording artist Jimmy Wayne, in order to raise awareness on children and homelessness. In America, there are approximately 463,000 children in the foster care system. In 2009 over 30,000 aged out of the system because they turned 18; half of them became homeless, and 30% of them were incarcerated at least once.
Jimmy was also in foster care but was homeless as he aged out of the system. He knows what it feels like to live on the streets. He began his charity in 2009 and on January 1, 2010 he walked from Nashville, TN to Phoenix, AZ in order to raise awareness about the youth who age out of the system with no where to go. Jimmy’s foundation is 100% safe and 10% of the proceeds made off of the car show will go directly towards his mission.
This unique first-time event has been developed through the ideas of students. The “Crusader Car Show” will be highly publicized through print and digital media. Both Tom Cotter and Humpy Wheeler are on the advisory board for this event. Humpy and Tom are both business legends within the NASCAR racing industry.
