Reading the schedule of events, I see that Eagles Nest is back on the schedule. Is this correct? From the film or co-ordinated pixels or what ever you call movies these days, that one really looked like a great weekend. Why did the hotel decide to allow SCCA to start up the climbs again?

Thanks for interest... the Eagles Nest is unfortunately not back on our schedule. We had some wonderful events there but the private gated community experienced some management changes and changes in ownership. We were unable to negotiate reasonable site rental and CCR opted to pursue other sites rather than to increase entry fees or lose money. As a result, we were able to found the Dragon Hillclimb in Robbinsvlle, NC. We are running our 4th hillclimb there this June 22-23 and we are thrilled with the site and the relationship we have formed with Graham County and Robbinsville, NC The site is 2.4 mile course over a 4.4 mile dead end road... a beautiful observation deck at the top. The road has good elevation, surface has improved thanks to the NC DOT and we are seeing many new cars and drivers as word spreads about the Dragon being one of the premier hillclimb sites in the US. PBS is planning to shoot more footage for a video update and a number of magazines are planning to do articles on this event. Due to the nature of this site and it's features, we are also allowing drivers to run on a novice license as long as they attend the Novice School on Friday night and are mentored by an an experienced driver. The guard rails and earth walls make this a much safer course and drivers are rewarded with faster times by slowly working their way up to their fastest time. In a nut shell, a driver can apply for a $35 novice license, borrow FREE loaner nomex gear from our Second Gear program, put an approved roll bar in a Street Prepared Solo car (along with a fire extinguisher and racing belts) and drive the Dragon Hillclimb. MANY of our drivers actually drive their car to the event. More information at www.dragonhillclimb.comWhat does the course look like... well... Take a ride with Heikki ... one of our DRAGONSLAYER sword winning Kings of the Hill!
