The Carolina Cup is also known as the CCR - SCR battle and typically done at Black Lake. This year we are doing it at the June zMax event. In years past we've done a combination of numbers utilizing PAX results to determine the winner. First thought is top ten PAX for each club. New thought, give your opinions. What if we took top eight from each club and then did a pax bracket Shootout much like a Match Tour Evolution Shootout?? It could make things interesting.
Weigh in your opinions and possibly other ideas.

I think a mini-shootout would make things a bit interesting and fun.

Top 4 from each club in a shootout, or top pax from each club from each run group. With the run group you could have some brackets run before the last run group is done cutting down on your extra time

Top 4 from each club in a shoot out for me too.

If I understand it correctly, I like the second of Anthony's suggestions.

Mini Shoot Out with the Top 4 from each club would be a very fair and fun event to watch..........But why not add some of the drama from the Evolution Style format ALSO take the 4 slowest PAX from each club put the names in a hat random draw 1 each from each club run a best two outta three with those folks call it the " Club Bonus PAX Shootout" and then assign that to the winning club for the championship Shoot out. That way everyone that drives from each club has a chance to help decide the outcome !

I like the shootout style for the Carolina Cup, but I don't like the top 4 in PAX from each club aspect of it. All this means is whoever has the single fastest driver will win and that is not a club competition.
If we were to say take top 5 and have them face off in a best 2 out of 3 shootout. And have the winning team be the one with more match wins.
1 vs 1 2 vs 2 3 vs 3 4 vs 4 5 vs 5
We also could use more drivers and as Randy mentioned use the slowest drivers as well and do something like Top 5 and Bottom 2 in PAX all facing off in competition against each other.

I think I like Mikes idea even better ;D That way it's really a total club effort and involves all the regions drivers not just the top drivers or what really amounts to about the 3% who usually decide the cup

the advantage of Anthony's idea - again, I might not be understanding it right - would be that you could have drivers from the A, B, C, and D categories, where A = 1-30, B = 31 - 60, etc. Then a driver from every level would be represented.

Adapt the format we are using for The Solo Cup Team competition. Which I think is what Mina is thinking of.

Gum out style, where all " top drivers" run the same car. Whether someone offers a car for maybe a free entry or someone with a connection to sponsor the Carolina cup

I like the idea of the same car. Maybe get a local dealer to sponsor the race by offering a car. Not even sure if that would be possible. Something kinda slow and underprepped so it would be all about the driver.

Or something comical like a minivan. If minivans are legal to autocross.

We might be able to get Jon to loan his kart for the shared vehicle...

We might be able to get Jon to loan his kart for the shared vehicle... If that's the case, CCR is screwed. SCR's two fastest drivers (Geoff Zimmer and Mike Jones) might actually fit on Jon's kart!

Maybe we should make it a sportbike instead. :-) (nah, I know, not enough wheels)

I like the idea of breaking it up into the same brackets that we have for the solo cup... top drivers from 1-30, 31-60, 61-90. Maybe the top two drivers from each club in each bracket.

Make 3 brackets
A - 1-40 B - 41-80 C - 81-120
Take top 3 in PAX from each club per bracket.
Making 9 drivers per team, in a best 2 out of 3 format. Most match wins, wins.

Ohhh, I like it cause there's a chance I might be in the top 40's bracket. Will we have enough time to do potentially 54 more runs after our normal event runs? And who will work the course during these shootout runs?

An extra 50-60 runs tacks on a lot of extra time ....Maybe 4 brackets , 1 driver from each bracket per club . Best of 2 runs wins that bracket .

I'm fine with the extra time for the shootout runs. The shootout should not take more than 30-40 minutes.
We can have 1st car off at 9:30.
As for course workers, we can use the people who are late to sign up for work assignments for their group. We really don't need 5-6 people standing at the same corner station like we did last event. So those people can work the shootout.

I really like the idea of an A/B/C bracket. Gives everyone something to shoot for.

ProSolo bracket. Take the winners of each class and put into a single elimination bracket. You have to get closest to your fastest time (with-out going faster or you're eliminated) with the person that got closest wins said pairing. ProSolo is all about consistency.

Gum out style, where all " top drivers" run the same car. Whether someone offers a car for maybe a free entry or someone with a connection to sponsor the Carolina cup I like this idea, and I volunteer my car. Lets see if we can get more than 8 drivers in one day ;D

Ok, how about top drivers from each bracket drive my car? And to make it REALLY interesting we can throw my 6 year old General Exclaim UHPs on it!

You would obviously have the advantage but I guess it's all good since you volunteered your car. I've just always been a fan of a "neutral" car battle ideally not any of the competition cars but anything would be great.
