NOTE : NEW RULE FROM PARK MANAGEMENT : NO ATVs, 4 wheelers, minibikes to be used in paddock area. Thats unfortunate given the spread out paddock. Was there an incident or something?

No... no incident. The Forest Services Law Enforcement is VERY safety conscious. It is their park and their rules... at our hillclimbs, there are a lot of kids walking around within a few feet of race cars and having minibikes and quads adds to traffic and likelihood of incidents. I did request the use of one for event management and I am awaiting answer on that. it is helpful for short runs, event results or running a worker up the hill.
There are other events held up there in the park and on that road. This was a decision made earlier this year at an event and it was explained to me, Forest Services cannot tell one group they can't and tell another they can. Safety is a keystone to us being able to run there and any preventable incident could be damaging for future events. We have an excellent safety record in our Time Trial program and there is more risk on a hillclimb than a track event due to spectators alone.
To improve communications, we are adding speakers spread out in the paddock area to help drivers keep track of groups and flow. The no pit bike/ATV rule is a change I would not prefer but ... small price to pay to be able to have a great event. Thanks for understanding!
