I have glass t tops, can I run a solo event with them in or do I need to take them out before running? Thanks

Bob,
T-tops, convertible tops and Targa tops should be but are not required by SCCA to be removed before entering the course. Many times I've seen vehicles not being required by the starter to do so and it seems to depend on who is hosting the event. Check the 2013 SCCA SOLO rulebook for updated requirements on any items of concern. The SR book and the event supplemental regulations will address what is not allowed.

Years ago we had a regular who picked up a used C4 Corvette. He barely fit in the car and did a run... during the run he hit a bump, helmet hit the glass targa roof on the C4 and broke it... like Brian said, remove it.

Is there a list of the CCR safety requirements that are stricter than the National SCCA rule book? So far I know of the following: Side windows must be down Fiat 500 Abarth not allowed Targa tops must be removed Battery positive terminal must be covered on stock battery

Bob, T-tops, convertible tops and Targa tops are supposed to be removed before entering the course. Many times I've seen vehicles not being required by the starter to do so and it seems to depend on who is working the event. Check the 2013 SCCA SOLO rulebook for updated requirements on any items of concern. The SR book and the event supplemental regulations will address what is not allowed. There is no requirement that t-tops, convertible tops, or targa tops be removed in the 2013 SCCA Solo Rules, and I cannot find any such requirement in any of the older rule books I have access to.

Matt,
You are correct. The SCCA SOLO rulebook no longer lists in section 3.3.3-B the requirement to remove any portion of removable vehicle roof components for SOLO competition. Apparently this was dropped because the SEB did not want to dictate the meaning of "inclement weather" to be only rain. Also, apparently a lack of recent rollover extraction issues allowed the decision to be made. Regions can add to the requirements in event supplementals but at this time CCR has no published requirements.
