Show up...lol. They will do a basic safety inspection but as long as it passes 'tech', you're good to go. Is that what you meant?

Yup , Dustin is right , Just show up at the event with entry fee and a car that will pass a basic safety check ( good seat belts , working brakes and throttle return , battery secured , tight wheels and good wheel hubs) . Check-in , tell the registrar its your first time and they will put someone with you to walk you through the day .

Well...^^^ He is basically right, but to go a little more in depth on what he said...yes show up early and tell someone you are a noob. We love our noobs and take very good care of them. Someone will direct you to what to do next...tech registration etc. Before you get to the event some things to help you along on your first event would be to check over the car mechanically. make sure the brakes are working well, the steering is tight, the battery is tied down well (this one gets a lot of people for some reason) and make sure your tires are in pretty decent shape, no chords showing, and your car should make the tech inspection. I would also recommend taking out anything loose in the car that you don't need. Also ahead of time you should try to class your car and try to come up with numbers and letters of correct size. There are some options available there for a first timer also. But the main thing is to come on out and do NOT be afraid to ask questions, we all had our "first" time and we understand and will help you all we can. So welcome to the addiction and let us know if we can help with classing your car or anything on here.

Thanks for all the help. The car is a 2011 camaro ss, I am doing brakes now( brembo slotted rotors hawk hps pads and wilwood 600 fluid) and I just put Mickey Thompson tires on. The car already has exhaust intake and tune. What class do you guys think I should run?

which Mickey Thompson's ? make sure they're not drag radials (don't do very good for a-x)
adding to what lilgunny said about the battery ... NO bungee cords ... factory type tie downs, even ratchet straps are ok ... but NO bungee cords ...
after you get to the event (before going to tech) remove all loose items, this includes floor mats ... as he said .. ask around, most everyone will be more than willing to help

Your Camaro would be in STX (Street Touring Xtreme) for all cars up to 5.0L and STU (Street Touring Ultra) for cars over. Assuming your SS has a bigger engine STU would be your class.
But if you did anything else beside a new cold air intake / air box on the intake side of the engine. Like porting or replacing of manifold, you would be bumped up to ESP (E-Street Prepared).
Welcome to the club.

Couple of other things to remember: -Bring suncreen if you're prone to sunburn. -Hat and sunglasses are your friend, especially at sites like zMax. -If your paint is something you cherish bring something that can remove cone marks. They come off quite easy. And you will hit a cone or two at some point. Just the facts of life. -Don't be shy. Talk to anyone and everyone you can. There a few other newer Camaro owners that come out. They should be able to help you as well as anyone else. -Ask someone who looks like they have a better idea of whats going on to ride along with you and take you for a ride-along in their car or have them drive you in your car. I say both. You'd be surprised at what any car can do. -Be ready to do some work. If you play you gotta work. Just how it is. -Help out with course set-up and what not. Extra time to get know people and see how everything works -Come ready to have fun and have a sense of humor. Some of us *cough* have an odd sense of humor about things.
Looking forward to seeing you out and about.

What should I do for a helmet?

CCR has loaners .... easy button is to go to a motorcycle shop and buy an inexpensive one .... but DON'T let them talk you into a Harley pot type (DOT cert. helmet) make sure it's a SA 2000 or newer (the latest certified are 2010) ... but really, before spending the money, come and use one of ours and see just what you're going to need to get ...
like Frodo said ... ask around ..don't be shy ... glad to have you aboard

Show up early and walk (learn) the course as much as possible, and join the novice walkthrough when it happens. And everything else that everyone else said.....

I'm always willing to have anybody, anytime for ride alongs. I'm not the best out there, but usually I'm good for giving you the idea of the sound of hitting or mowing down cones.

Welcome! Uh... remember to goto "COMPETITIVE MODE" in your Camaro to make it extra fun I know it's been said but..battery tie down, no leaks/wobbles (a good running car, basically), and a lot of humility is all you need to start.
