CCR Wednesday Night Seies Schedule

We will be doing another Wednesday Night Series again this year at Metrolina Expo.

And once again we will be doing the 6 PAX Class System we used last year.
Night Series Championship this year.
You must make 3 events to qualify for the series championship, and you get 1 drop of 5 events

Cost
$35 Non Members
$30 SCCA
$5.00 extra for on-site registration

No SCCA Annual Memberships will be taken on site of night events

Tech Inspection 6:00-6:30
Drivers Meeting 6:45

Classes and Run Groups

GROUP 1
Stock Class (HS to SS)
Street Prepared Class (FSP to SSP)
Ladies


GROUP 2
ST Class (STC, STF, STR, STS, STU and STX)
Race Class (GP to XP, FM to AM and KM, SM SSM SMF) SM subject to be its own class depending on numbers
Tire Class (All non ST Classes on Street Tires)

NO NOVICE CLASS

Run/Work groups will flip each event. These groups SHOULD remain the same for the entire series but are subject to changes if the groups aren't even.

We get first car of at 7pm, I just checked last years info. Last year we had about 45-50 drivers, and ended at about 9-9:30.

We run the same course, and get 5 runs per event on a simple 35-40 second course. These events are good for tuning, since it is always the same course. The weekday night events are also great for new people to autocross. Since we get a small amount of drivers, the events are always very laid back. If anybody has friends who are on the fence about trying autocross, try to get them to come out to these Wednesday night events.

What is criteria for "series championship" ?

May I suggest one less class? Combine prep and mod into one class known as " Race"
Perhaps no novice class seen as they'll run with base class anyway. We proved last year there is a big difference in times between group 1 and 2. From what I remember

Definitely looking forward to this! And AJ, I'm pretty sure you're right about the time disparity between run groups. As you lose light it gets much harder to look ahead.

I love driving in the dark, but I have good eyes. I never had any issues with running 1st or 2nd group, and I pretty much ran the same times throughout.

For me it gets hard when you're looking ahead pretty much through the driver's window. With low light it isn't as easy to find the cone you know you should be looking at. Then again, last summer was my first season so maybe it's just an inexperience thing.

This is awesome! I'll be planning on being in charlotte on these days to stick around for the events. Guess I'll be playing the Casino "car whoring" role :-)

Definitely a fun mini-series during the year. And it's a good way to watch yourself improve as the course stays the same. And running at night is always fun. Fox & Hound or Hick Tav afterwards as well.

I'm so excited to see the night series coming back, but unfortunately Wednesday's are a bad night for me. I really felt like I improved a lot when I ran the night events last year, so hopefully I can get a couple of these nights worked out.

Hey now! Mike gets all the credit for this! This is his baby. I'm just along for the ride. Mike is a BIG advocate for this series. This allows for a more laid back atmosphere along with continuous improvement for drivers and car development. I used to use it to do big changes to a car to get a good setup under it. Less pressure than a weekend series, so I was more willing to do crazy changes that may or may not work out. Now a days, I use it to jump in other cars to have fun and help develop others cars and driving abilities. It truly is a great thing to have.

You're welcome to drive the e30, but as you know it's not particularly easy to drive or be competitive with. Also, with seat/harness adjustments it would probably work best if it was run in different groups.

N00b classing question. So I run novice e stock right now, stock miata on steet tires. So when I registered I selected e stock tire. What letters should I have on the car? EST? Just T?

TES... PAX class goes first, otherwise you end up with confusion when Pro DS becomes DSP.... same as D Street Prepared.

That was only because I watched Senna the night before and was in the first run group, you'll be fine for a weeknight event

It's probably a lot closer to Cline's E36 then the S2K I've been driving so I'm down.
