To the CTSV driver who had their airbags go off at zMax

I didn't see it happen, but I heard about it shortly after and was amazed that it happened again! Not sure if everyone has seen this story on Jalopnik but the same exact thing happened last year to another CTSV driver. jalopnik.com/5915824/watch-a-cadillac-cts+vs-airbags-explode-during-a-pre+wedding-autocross

I had read that article and watched that video about a month ago. You were already gone by the time someone told me that it happened. I'd have to imagine that you aren't just the second person that this has happened to. Anybody have any pictures or video of it happening this time around? Or an update on the situation now?

Edit - Reading through the comments just now it seems that it has happened to several other people in CTSVs and Camaros. Come on GM...

That run for him was strange to me. I was up on the grandstand watching. When he came around that left sweeper and going into right left kink the car sounded as if it "loaded up". areal low guttural sound then cleared. AS he go to the end I heard a loud pop and my first thought that something broke in the engine. It was a few minutes before I noticed the side curtain airbag deployed. then in the pits Isaw the otherside had deployed.

I wonder if Onstar called?

"did onstar call?" was the best thing I heard from a few people.
Thankfully both the driver and passenger are ok, and no one else was put in harms way.

FYI there are recalls on srs system with that platform. Known wiring harness concerns.
