I'm considering a move to Charlotte (Pineville area). I'm in search of a place to stay. I can afford around $400/ month rent, but I come attached with a 70lbs Greyhound. I don't mind an apartment, but I own several vehicles that I would like to bring with me which are not registered (ITB Rabbit and parts car). If anyone has any leads please let me know.

Good luck... I don't know what you can get for $400 a month... 5 years ago when we moved to CLT my wife and I had a 2 bedroom with a loft at the Arboretum. It was about $1000 per month.

I don't think I need much more than 1 bedroom place and I've located a few in the area, but I'm not familar with how nice the areas are. I wouldn't have a place for most of my vehicle stuff though so I was also looking into rooms available. I've just been spoiled for too long with cheap rent and a free garage to keep everything in. I could possibly afford more rent in a few months once I get settled and the new paychecks start coming in, but not right off.

The Village of Buena Vista 4929 Tuckaseegee Road
Thats the only place I could really track down. I put out a couple of flags to see if there was anyone in the area looking for a roommate, but I know bringing a large dog makes people weary. Most everything down there is so expensive. I've got a 2 bedroom apartment here that is 5 mins from work for $400. This is going to be a tough move.

The Village of Buena Vista 4929 Tuckaseegee Road RUN! Run away fast!! Or bring an arsenal... you'll need it in that area. We had a 2 bedroom townhouse in Hickory, with a carport. I think rent was $425... so I know what you're up against!

You'll be fine up there, so long as you're invisible and don't have any possessions whatsoever....... I don't know where work is, but a lot of the 'affordable' housing may be located outside the county. What I have to pay for in commute time, I save in property value since I'm in Mooresville (north out of Meck. county) and commute the hour (or so) in each day.

I would suggest you look at the Fort Mill / Rock hill area. It's a fairly easy drive up I-77 to Pineville. Property rents are somewhat cheaper because landlords are not paying Meck /Charlotte property taxes (though Rock Hill city has a 'penalty' basis on landlords for property tax).
You may have more luck finding a small house outside of a town where you would have the storage space you need.

Problem is...I need to stay close enough to work where I can take my dog out on my lunch break or room with someone who can do that. Thanks for the heads up about the area I listed. I don't have an arsenal and I'm sure there are plenty of things I own that other people would love to have. The situation with my dog is really the only hurdle right now.

I'm coming to Charlotte tomorrow to get some paperwork done for the job and to look around a bit. Thanks for all the help so far. Hopefully, a solution will present itself.
