One of the options from the factory for my car includes Brembo brakes and bigger rotors. If I change mine to match the upgraded factory option, will that put me into BSP?

If it was an option, as in order the Track package and get the bigger brakes, then you have to convert the car to be a Track package completely.
Not sure about stand-alone options.
Could you get the brakes as a stand-alone option?

No, it was part of the "touring" and "track" levels. Touring would include the brakes, leather interior, and Bose radio Track includes the above, plus sway bars (I think)

Well, that new Bose Stereo should help make the car sound faster! LOL.
Yeah, that is one of the strange rules in SCCA Solo and I guess it makes sense in some cars from a weight veiwpoint. If an option came as part of the package you need to do the full upgrade. Doesn't always make sense - but I am sure that leather and a Bose stereo are worht a few tenths.

Back to Ken's brake question...
Upgrade the pads and use sythetic fluid. That's about all you can do...
I'm looking at Hawk HP+ pads for the LM.

Probably do that at the next brake change, need to find some good pads that don't leave all of the dust on my wheels. Well, I don't know about other performance upgraded pads, but I think mine leave more dust than stock. (Car is '97 base model Integra, pad is Axxis Ultimate) But I suppose I don't care. They're nice and grippy, and they seem to be wearing nicely, in spite of my Powerslot rotors, no less. Plus, my wheels are black. ;D I can still tell they put out a lot of dust though, or the dust is darker... Those pads were recommended to me by Karl Kondor by the way, who said to be sure to not get the Axxis "Metal Masters"...

You could replace the stock rotors with OEM style rotors made by Brembo, you can't go larger or slotted or drilled.

HP Plus here....noisiest brakes I've ever owned. Stop great, but probably no better than some of the others out there.
I have cleaned and "anti-squeeled" the heck out of them, and they still sound like somethin from "Deliverance."
Got the Hawk HPSs on the Silver car. They are nearly as good in an autocross, and great on the street with no noise. Love em'.

I've got a set of Hawk HPS pads on my Z and let me tell you that when I drove the Tail of the Dragon (for those that don't know...think an AutoX course on the side of a Mountain) and The Hellbender ,the stopping power was amazing. Despite having an Auto....I didn't experience any brake fade on any of my runs given that I can't really engine brake. I'll be going back up there next month.
Oh..and the dust problem from the OEM pads.....no longer an issue. When it comes time for another new set of pads (assuming that I don't have different calipers by then), I'll be getting another set of the HPS's.
