I'm probably not going to drive UNLESS it rains. Don't want to kill off my crappy tires any more than necessary at this point.

Hoping to there if I can get tires moved. I figure the way they are worn if I get them moved I'll have some camber. LOL

Well, the car isn't back together yet, so it doesn't look like I'll make this one.

Looks like I won't make this tonight. Tire guys broke and lost centering rings and don't have any local. Hopeful Tire Rack has them to me on Friday in time for the 24 at Dixie.

Looks like I won't make this tonight. Tire guys broke and lost centering rings and don't have any local. Hopeful Tire Rack has them to me on Friday in time for the 24 at Dixie. Curious, are centering rings on your car required for structural support, or to just help ensure the wheel is centered? I ask because I believe most centering rings are just that to center the wheel but don't really offer structural support (that's what studs or bolts are doing). I've run a few cars without centering rings and as long as you are careful when tighting the lug nuts (or bolts) they center the wheel for you (espicially if they are the conical(sp?) type). Just a thought if you wanted to check in to, so you could still play if they don't come in, in time.... DISCLAIMER: as many on here will confirm I am NOT mechanically inclided so use at your own risk or someone on here can probably speak up that has more knowledge on this subject. On a side note, I am really hoping I can make it to the autocross tonight.... I never know with work when I will get out until I am actually walking out the door.

Ive autocrossed my BRZ and WRX without hub rings numerous times. Just tightened and torqued my lugs in a star pattern and all was well. Not sure if different cars can get away with it or not, but thought I'd at least share my experience.

I have to use centering rings on my GTI (lug bolts not nuts). When I first got my ax wheels and tires, I tried running without rings. No matter how careful I was when installing the wheels, I would get a bad vibration above 45 mph. After I installed the rings the vibration went away. On my old Mazda MX6, I ran without rings and didn't have a problem. Maybe it has something to do with lug bolts vs lug nuts. Rings definitely aren't required for structural support, the friction between the hubs is where the support is.

My understanding is that you can have lug-centric wheels and hub-centric wheels. Lug-centric wheels depend on the lug nuts to center the wheel, which is how OEM Honda wheels are. The lug nuts are spherical in shape and the lug seats on the wheels have a matching spherical shape to them. As you tighten the lug nuts, this spherical shape pulls the wheel to the center of the hub.
I've heard that if you buy aftermarket wheels that are hub-centric and try to put them on a car that is lug-centric you need to use centering rings. If you don't, the wheel is depending on the lug nuts to center it, which they won't since the design of the wheel isn't like a lug-centric wheel with the spherical lug seats.

The rings are plastic so no strength but they definately help in centering the wheel. I went to put them on last night and tried without the ring and it just didn't feel right. The wheel did not feel as if it centered. It may have but I didn't feel comfortable with it. It also uses bolts which I don't think are as strong as lugs. I am going to convert to lugs soon.
I'm going to swing by the tire place and see if he was to get any today. As of this morning he had no luck.
