at the LeMons race this past weekend we lost one of ours ...
this is a copy/paste from one of my friends on the ETR forum .... at first all we knew was that it was bad ... this info came out Sun
We did get a few updates about the driver who lost his life on Saturday. He had a massive heart attack while on course, his safety equipment did the job it was supposed to do and was intact after the crash. His name was Sidney Brayton. One of the teams did take up donations for the family and raised a total of $4500 and at the trophies Jay announced that LeMons HQ would match that donation. So thats good. Also all the cars today ran a #22 in his honor.
and this from one of our members on here
I came through Turn 14 at CMP maybe ten seconds after it happened, the flag station had just barely had enough time to get the caution flag out.
If there are any bright spots to be found in all this, I can think of two: today just about every car wore a '22' in his memory and some of the racers in the remaining races of the year will have that number on their cars as well. NSF Racing also started a collection which Jay is going to match, last I heard it was a tick under $10,000. No it won't replace him to his family. But that does reinforce something I've known for years: racers are some of the finest people on the planet.
anyone that is the praying kind might consider sending some towards his family (his daughter was there at the track)
they were paddocked beside our team ... when they brought the car back to the paddock after the initial investigation, you could see that the interior was totally intact .. seat attached as it should .. harnesses in good shape ... everything .....
