I received this email this morning and wanted to pass it along to the forum to see if anyone had any information for the gentleman asking:
I recently acquired a 1967 Mustang hardtop sedan racer that was raced in GT-1 in CCR-SCCA club events, primarily at Charlotte Motor Speedway. I got the logbook with it, although it wasn't kept up very well. The car was owned/raced by Martin Adams, and it was initially signed off on by a guy named Randall Cap or Randall Cop (
?) in March, 1980. From what I can gather, he raced it from 1980-83 (including something refered to in the logbook as the 'July Fry" (?), then in 1986, he sold it to Danny Rockett (Hickory, NC), and he autocrossed it in CCR-SCCA events from 1986-91.
I am trying to put together/document the history of this car. The SCCA assigned ID number is 61-257 (stamped in the main hoop of the roll bar below the inspection hole, and denoted in the logbook). Didn't know if your club keeps an archive of old club events, but what I anm looking for is any old race results that would document the races this car ran in, as well as any old photos that may exist (contact info for photographers at Charlotte SCCA events in those years), as well as copies of any old club newsletters documenting the car/driver.
I only have one photo of it from it's racing days (at Charlotte on the road course) when it was dark green, and attached some photos of it as it appears now (as prepared by Danny Rockett in 1980).
