Second on needing an example of "plinko" element. With the light poles, no cones at zMax would be a plinko board haha

Yup - that's it, inspiration was the Price is Right plinko board. Saginaw Valley Region tried the Plinko element at an event a few years back. This was a section of the course where cones were arranged like the pins on the Plinko board. This was on a runway course, so you couldn't just drive around all the cones and straight-line the section. It was up to the driver to determine *whatever* path they wanted to take through the cones - multiple entry options and multiple exit options.. Some people liked it, some people ***HATED*** it. Personally, I found the concept innovative and fun. I couldn't find a picture of the course.

I can see narrow cars loving it since they just flat foot through and the wider cars disliking it since they basically have to treat it like a friendly slalom with a few lifts (depending on power).
When will the course map be posted?

So this Plinko element is just like grid? Some of us find that challenging enough.

That is a very interesting concept. I can imagine the entertainment value as a spectator. I would much rather watch that element be driven all day, and definitely NOT want to work it lmao

Heads up to everyone attending... the Food Lion Auto Fair is the same weekend over at the speedway, so guaranteed that the traffic around the area will be immense, particularly during the lunch hours. Plan accordingly with your arrival time and lunch plans and bring your patience when it comes to leaving the area. Also, all waiver workers need to be on their toes all day and EVERYONE needs to wear their wristbands and show them when reentering the facility. We will undoubtedly have more visitors than normal.

I'm giggling at the section named after me! This course says "work on shifting to 3rd gear" to me.

I noticed a 99 Miata (#73) registered in C Street. Someone should point him toward E Street or to our group C Stock - if he has R-Comps...

Quick question: Tuned Chevy Sonic 1.4t, with springs, but stock 36k mile all seasons: HS still or do I need to jump to STC? Real tires won't be in until middle of this month.

Springs will put you into STC.

"Tuned" mean more boost?

|
|
Post by ball80 on Apr 3, 2014 16:32:11 GMT -5
That be the only reason id tune a stock sonic

Well it is kinda hard to tune a modern turbo car without upping boost. Per SCCA rules it seems to be allowed if your ECU tune happens to up boost, just not mechanically changing the boost controls on the car.
But yes, it bumps boost from ~16 to ~22 psi. I figured it would be ST. I'll probably just sit this one out and be ready for the next one with some better tires. I hit a corner aggressively earlier and got understeer worse than I have in a while.
