SCCA Central Carolina Region has enjoyed a wonderful partnership with Graham County... the site of our Chasing the Dragon Hillclimbs. We have held 6 wonderful events there since 2011 and the county has welcomed us with open arms. It has been a mutually beneficial relationship... with us getting a great site and them getting much needed tourism. Beyond those benefits, we have made some great friendships with merchants, locals lodgers and county officials. We appreciate their support and sponsorship greatly.
Unfortunately, it was announced last week that the largest single employer of residents in Graham County, Stanley Furniture is closing the plant down. The demand for the Young American line has dwindled and they cannot continue to keep the plant in business beyond the next 60 days. That means 400 manufacturing jobs lost. Graham County is faced with finding a suitable manufacturer or business to move into their 588,000 square foot factory and hopefully, keep people working in Graham County.
I am asking for your help, if you know any key executives in manufacturing (furniture, automotive, water sports, etc.) or any businesses in need of a distribution facility, PLEASE pass this on to them. The tax incentives and government grants available are incredible... the work force does not want a hand out or a bail out... they want to work. By relaying this presentation to potential buyers, your 30 second action could result in opening a door that would dramatically affect the future of this community. If you have any questions on the facility, feel free to email me and I will relay them to County Administrators for good answers. Thanks for your help.
