Thanks for the kind words.
The course worker sub-stations are not a new idea, they are like national level events. Having too many people gathering in a group has been a pet peeve of mine, as we have plenty of time to gather together and have fun, just not when you are suppose to be serious and alert. The reality of course working is we have cars blazing by you, often at 50+ MPH. So you need to be sharp and alert to the situation and course working shouldn't be taken lightly.
And as Jerry mentioned, with the size of zMax and Black Lake, spreading out is very important so everyone can get their runs on the same course and the event doesn't get delayed. I must say the course working was very good on a whole yesterday, as we finally got people into the right place and kept the running distances to a minimum.
Now if I can only get everyone to fix the cones that are still in the box, just not set properly. The cones that are rotated 45 degrees or half in and half out of the box. Autocross is a game of inches and having a cone 4 inches off does make a difference to those that get really get close to them.

To Licursi's point, a freeze frame from the ridiculous video camera mount... which made pretty decent video after all. I should get a re-run!

Don't know where my post from last night went. I wanted to say how well everything ran at the event. Great day with little to no issues. Had fun in the new car. A little sorting to do yet. Made it to within 7mi. from home. Had to call the tow truck. I think I have it on the way to running better. We'll now a t Triad this Sunday.
Thanks for a great day!

I happen to know we started the day with a display board AND a "receipt" printer. The fact that my times were on sticky-pad means both of those primary systems were down, but someone had thought ahead enough to bring sticky-pads and a pen, and to station someone at finish to ensure times were handed out even with two systems down! THAT's thinking ahead! During 3rd run group, things started acting up a bit. There were some network latency issues where results would come through in bursts. We'd miss times on 3 cars at the display board, then all of a sudden they'd all come through at once. Moving the router slightly fixed that. Other than those laggy times, the display board worked all day, albeit with the occasional "hung flapper" that it sometimes does. In third group, though, the receipt printed started getting behind. Car A would finish, their time would show up on the display board, and the receipt wouldn't print for them. Then Car B finishes, their time shows up on the display board, and it prints the receipt for Car A. Nothing backed up in print queue.... checked the printer settings... power cycled the printer.... it was just AXWare not sending the print job until a car late. So since everything else HAD been running smoothly, I didn't want to pull down timing and try to mess with it, so I just got the box of post-its and had Ricky start writing those. Thanks to you and Jon for all the help this weekend as always. You two always stepping up to go help flour the course is GREATLY appreciated. And in hindsight, I guess we could have had one of those elementary school style "meet your neighbors" thing where we hand everyone whatever random timeslip printed and tell them to go find who it belongs to and introduce themselves. I think I like that idea for next event if the printer starts acting up again TEAM BUILDING EXERCISE!!!!!

Great job Duckles! I was wondering why at one point announcing I was missing times then five popped up. We will get this technology figured out, some year.

Yeah everything INSIDE the timing trailer was working great during group 3 despite the printer/display hangup and AJ's laptop not getting results as quick. The main thing is that the computer in the timing trailer is working right. The other main thing is that competitors have SOME single way of knowing their times, be it the display, time slips, or walking up to the announcer computer. As long as one of those sources is working and the timing trailer computer is good, then it is a successful day. Having all competitor time sources working at the same time is just a bonus, and that was happening for the majority of the event. Awesome day.
