Hey, I have just been referred to CCR by a friend and I plan to make as many events as possible. I just finished my first season with HSSC in Asheville with first place in CSP for the day and night series. Of course the competition was not all that fierce. I drive a 1991 N/A Toyota MR2. I could run E-stock if I removed my intake but I plan to dump more money in the future into the suspension, seats, cams, exhaust etc. Right now I am sticking to autox because of the lack of money (student)and I just love the setting and level of competition. I hope to be coming to the Feburary events you guys have planned, pending on my schedule. I just thought I would formerly introduce myself and also see if there were any other MKI/MKII/MKIII owners here.
Thanks!

Welcome! I'm not familiar with any MR2 owners that race with any regularity, but CSP is one of the more competitive classes we have. From what we have seen so far, we could have as many as 11 this year and that is just the ones that post on the forum. Come out and have fun. If you are running on street tires, you might consider running in the tire class we have. That always has lots of cars in it and you won't have to face down those pesky Miatas on Hoosiers if you are racing on a budget.

Hey Bryan,
TJ and I ran with you at Day Series #2 at Highlands. We were in Elvira...the little Miata with the fangs. That was yet another day where TJ beat me by 2/10ths of a second. (Yeah... when it's your son, you remember every one of those losses... ;D I sure miss the days when I could take his keys away.... )
Glad to have you in the club and running with us in CSP. We have a great bunch of drivers and cars and competition is fierce between Willie and Mark... and Jeremy Cox when you can get him out there!
If I can be of any help, let me know. Also, come on down to some of our SWCCCR meetings in Greenville when you can.

And Rich Little and I will be happy to have a 'battle of the underprepared CSP cars' for last place!

Bryan... shhh.... don't let trickbrick drive your car. She's really really good... she has beaten 7 out of the last 9 guys who let her drive their car. She's nice and sweet and then, when she gets behind the wheel of your car, a transformation occurs. All the sudden, she's like Mary O. Andretti or Danica Patrick but faster... Beware... you have been warned. ;D ;D ;D

Meh...just ignore this guy and his big ricey wheels... j/k Bryan...welcome to the CCR board. ;D There is a Mk3 Spyder that frequently runs CS and I occasionally run my Mk1 in STS2 or CSP (as you already know). Otherwise, I haven't seen many MR2s running CCR events.

Bryan... shhh.... don't let trickbrick drive your car. Hehe, I wasn't asking... Just welcoming Bryan to the forums! (Or as Jeannie says, de mad house) *embarrassed face* Methinks someone might be exaggerating an itty bitty bit** **i.e. a LOT, my friend. ps. This post, along with the quoted one, is a rather excellent example of the fate of all threads on this forum. (with perhaps the exception of classifieds) ;D

Howdy Brian, Welcome to CCR and SCCA. I was hoping that you would try some new venues. Maybe I'll see you at Nights Stadium in Feb. I hope you can make it. This is a good event and a good site. Be sure to look some of us up and we'll show you around. And as a note to the other members of the club, this guy is a keeper. I happen to know that for his high school senior project, he organized and put on a autocross/car show for charity and also to try to showcase autoxing as an alternative to kids racing on the street. The event made money for the Make a Wish foundation and we all had a very large time. He did the bulk of the work himself from obtaining a site to filing the paperwork with the city. Once again, glad to see your interest in CCR. Lilgunny

Thanks Brian. I am extremley excited to be able to get back on the course again. As some of the highlands members know, I had a rough first year with my car. For the first few events I was running 18" wheels with tiny stretched 215s on a stock N/A. Then I had allaignment problems where the f/p wheel had almost 2 degrees of positive camber. Then, right when I had everything sraightned out, my motor threw a rod, spuna bearing and blew the head gasket. Now I have a newer motor in and I should be building my suspension in the next few months so I can place better in CSP. I might do tire class also because I doubt I will be able to afford slicks or what not. Thanks for the welcome. I should be there at nights stadium for the test and tune at least.

Welcome to the madness! We do a charity event each year. In 2007 it was a 12 hour event, tons of runs and a donation to a good cause. If you want to help out with anything just let us know!

The MR2 will most likely be run in ES now since I have picked up a set of the stock 14's.

Bryan, New project looks like fun! Congrats!
Don't feel bad about missing some ... most all of us that have been in this a while have periods where life gets in the way. Job, finances, kids... sometimes, you have to budget and wait for next year. It's still worth the wait. Fortunately, we have a great club that has good stability and will be there when you are ready... or in this case your car. Keep working on that stable of cars... you will catch up with James Farris in NO TIME!!!! ;D
