Hi everyone, my name is Matt from Salisbury, NC. Did a couple AutoX events a few years ago, but my car got totaled and didn't have anything else suited for AutoX. Finally have a car that might be somewhat enjoyable doing some AutoX events. Looking forward to this Saturday at zMax, and the entire 2015 season.
Two questions for you all...
1. What is the Novice category? I don't see it listed in the SOLO Rules Book, but after signing up for HS, I saw there were a LOT of entries in Novice. I'd rather have a big group to be running against.
2. I saw in the SOLO Rules Book that numbers can't be in the I used to just print up numbers on paper and tape inside the back seat windows. Now I guess I need some magnet numbers or something? Anyone have a good source in the Charlotte area for numbers? Or other ideas for numbers?
Thanks everyone! -Matt

Welcome back!
1. The novice category this year is a bit different than in the past. Taken from the supplemental rules thread:
Novice - Novice class will be an introduction to the sport. This class is open to anyone in their first year of AutoX, and may only be run 3 times. There will be no times posted, nor any points awarded. Novice participants will get one extra run, and are encouraged to take an instructor for all runs, or offer the extra run to an instructor to see what their car is capable of. Novices will get their times from the display/timeslip so they can track their progress, but times will not be posted with official results as it is not intended to be a competition class.
So, if you're looking for competition then novice won't be for you. It's a great place to learn the sport and your car, and we have novice instructors on site to help that process, but isn't competitive.
2. You can print those numbers and affix them to the outside of your car with painter's tape. or you can just make the numbers out of painter's tape. Since you plan on running the entire season it's worth your while to get magnetic or vinyl numbers. I'm not sure if anyone local is currently making numbers, but you can also find them online. Solo Performance Specialties does good work and has quick turnaround.

Thanks Matt! I'll stick with HS, and yeah, painters tape will do for this weekend, but will look for something to use throughout the season.

Welcome MattMan. Glad to see new folks anytime. I'm not one of the organizers, just a racer like yourself. If I can be of help on race day, just look for the blue SSR. Can't be many.
A few guys will be joining in for breakfast at the Bojangles just off 485 exit on the way to the track. Stop by if you want and introduce yourself. We'll be there 6:30 to 7 or so.
