Hi everyone, I'm Mike and autocross has been something I've been wanting to do for a long time now. I've been creeping around on here for a little while and this seems like the right site for me. I'm not yet an SCCA member because I just want to be sure that this is something I wanted to stick with. I have a 2012 tdi jetta on h&r sport springs and 18x8s and a 1980 el camino ss that I'm almost finished converting from a turd, into a decent handling turd. I eventually want to stick with the el camino for autocrossing, but I wouldn't mind starting out with the jetta until the camino is finished.

Welcome to autocross.
Hope to see you at one of our events in the near future. Either car will be just fine to autocross. Since you would be new, we have a great Novice Program that will help you learn what your car(s) are capable of doing and get you acclimated to the rules.

Thanks, I look forward to trying it out. I should be able to make it to the next one at zmax. Can I just show up and register there, or do I have to register beforehand?

You can show up on site and register but we charge extra for that.... but if you pre-register you can save $5, you don't have to pre-pay but pre-register is preferred it gets you through the registration line alot quicker.

That makes sense. I'll be sure to try to pre-register then. Thanks for the info!
