Registration is now open for the CCR Novice School at Metrolina Expo on Saturday, May 30th.www.motorsportreg.com/events/ccr-scca-novice-school-metrolina-expo-central-carolinas-autocross-597712Registration is now open for the CCR Intermediate School at Metrolina Expo on Sunday, May 31st.www.motorsportreg.com/events/ccr-scca-intermediate-school-metrolina-expo-central-carolinas-autocross-597857You will get personalized one on one instruction from some of CCR's most knowledgeable autocrossers. The Novice School on May 30th will start with a detailed classroom session, followed by individual element training in slaloms and sweeping turns. After the lunch break you will get course walking instruction and than hit the full, timed course. Instructors will keep track of your progress, give you pointers and get you faster. The Intermediate school on May 31st will be full course instruction on 3 slightly different courses. You will see that small changes to a course will drastically change how the course drives. You will also get course walking instruction prior to driving , as it is one of the most important parts of being a good autocrosser.

I'm eagerly awaiting the CCR school, and was considering doing the Triad one as well, but I think they've already reached the 20 student cap. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong . . .

They are at the 20 driver cap at the moment. Unless some people have backed out of their spot in the school. Don't worry. we got you Scott. We will get you faster.

Really looking forward to this - would like to get closer to B STOCK times by years-end! AND Gayle will be happy to know that we won't spend ALL of Memorial Day weekend hanging around the Danville airport . . .

I know this is a difficult question to answer, but at what point should a person looking into this course move towards the intermediate class? I took a novice class with triad a few months ago that was amazing, and can't be there for both days. I was thinking of just taking the intermediate class but wanted to make sure it wouldn't be wasted if I missed the novice day.
Thanks for your input!

Back in 2011 I took the Triad Novice School while running well in Pro Class and winning a Trophy at an SCCA National Tour (4th in STR out of 28 drivers). I just look at both classes being seat time, also throw in an instructor that is more knowledgeable. I don't think you have a wrong answer, both schools will cater the instruction to the individual and how much they know.

Please do not wait until the last second to sign up for the schools. We have a limit on the number of students and we need to get enough instructors to cover all of the students.

I registered today and when I went to pay this is what I got: "The event organizer is not accepting online payments for this event. Please make other arrangements or ask the organizer to accept online payments in the future." Mario, We switched over to MotorsportReg after we had issues with registration at zMax. It has been a quick turnaround just getting registration up and running. At the moment we are not set up to take online payments on MotorsportReg. You can pay for the school onsite or send your payment via PayPal. You can send the payment to: ccrpayments@ccrscca.comwww.paypal.com/home

Ok once again the new guy has a question. Will we need to pack our own lunch? I want to say yes like for the events but want to ask to make sure. Sorry to ask these things but the NOOB has to ask.

Lunch will be provided if we get over 40 drivers at each school. If we do not, you will need to pack yourself a lunch or go grab some food from someplace nearby.

Do you guys have loaner helmets available? I'm assuming you won't have enough for everyone. Does anyone know a brick and mortar in the area (I'm in Huntersville), that sells SA spec helmets?

Loaners are available. You could try Summit Racing. Order today and probably have by Friday.

I bought mine from Doug Herbert Performance in Concord. They had a good selection of Simpson, Bell, and a few others.

If you can get a helmet, that is great. But we will be splitting students up into groups of 12 and we have 12 loaner helmets, so we will have enough for people without them.

Thanks guys! I ended up visiting like 7 stores in Mooresville today looking for something cheap. Best deal I saw was $200 at Roush Racing. Ended up ordering one from Amazon overnight for less than $150. Looking forward to this weekend.

MIKE -
Representatives of the Housel clan (party of five) have asked me to come out this weekend to help and to instruct.
Do you have a problem with me volunteering to instruct??
I'm probably not up to standards as a driver, but I was chairman for the CCR Auto-x School for 4 years, and served as the official CCR "Novice Chief" a while back, too...
IF THAT"S COOL - - what time should I plan to show up Saturday?
I want to make sure they get the most out of walking the course, as well as the in-car 1-on-1 sessions.
ALSO - - do I need to sign up somewhere?
