The 8th running of the CCR hosted "Chasing the Dragon Hillclimb occurred on June 13-14, 2015 at the Joyce Kilmer National park. The weather was as good as it gets for June in the Robbinsville, NC Smokey mountain region. Clear both days with a dry course all weekend. Twenty eight run sessions were completed during the weekend with contestants electing to get an early departure for their trip home on Sunday by three thirty pm. As usual course setup/tear down staff remained much longer to take care of business.

Thanks Cindy! It's nice to see all the runs listed, that gives drivers a run comparison.

While watching the Killboy film of the Lowcost 7, I couldn't help but notice how many exterior coming and going shots there were. Have places been opened up to shooters or was this a special run?

While watching the Killboy film of the Lowcost 7, I couldn't help but notice how many exterior coming and going shots there were. Have places been opened up to shooters or was this a special run? that was a one-time deal for the purpose of creating that video. We do allow controlled access to the course for photographers and media. They are restricted in their movements while cars are on course.

I'm glad you did because it did allow for what I would consider the first professional video of the climb. I just wish there had been no spin but it reminds me of the mid 1990s MacDonald's commercial filmed in Dawsonville and featuring Bill Elliott. A shop hand was dressed in Bill's driving Suit and helmet and was his double. But on a back road near town the car, the 750-HP car being prepared for that week's race and being used because the ad agency didn't tell the team of the commercial, spun on the gravel and did a 360 caught on film by the cameraman. Although not used in the commercial, it gave the race team plenty of laughs for a long time.
