Thank you Walter. Funny, she purred like a kitten when I got home. No smoke either. Club did an awesome job this weekend.
Thanks to Jimmy who told me I should spend a little more thought on the course walking. Read it different than most and it paid off today.

Ran well day one. Found some brave pills for day two and was on pace to be very quick. Unfortunately the oil sloshed away from the pickup and I munched at least one rod bearing. I had an amazing time and ill be back in August with more of everything.

At 3:30 Sunday, after a few delays for mechanical failure and a crunched timing light and a few other minor issues, a few of us were wondering whether the last group had time for four runs. After all, nearly 200 cars with a nominal 11:00 start time doesn't leave much slack. But the very few remaining delays were short, and EVERYONE got the opportunity for all their runs. That was impressive, and done in a way that could easily be taken for granted. Nicely done! CCR has become so professional in the past several years. I know there are internal glitches now-and-then, but most of them are knocked out by the core group and the customers (and we ARE customers) never even have to worry what happened.

By the way, thanks to the announcers in Groups 1 and 2 Sunday. They were doing an exceptional job of announcing times, current positions, gap to the next position up, who went faster and who slowed down, and a dozen other points relative to the event. It was like listening to a ball-game on the radio: I could tell what was going on without actually seeing it. I am usually way-out-on-course during our worker assignment and can't hear the speakers. It was fun to acually be able to focus on the cones at my station and still feel like I knew what was going on. (If the other announcers were just as good, my compliments to them as well. I just wasn't in a position to hear them.)

agree about the announcing … but I do wish that there were speakers scattered through out the grid … (my car … no radio) … I could hear all the (in good fun) crap that the announcers were heaping on me … just wish I could have heard well enough to know exactly what was being said … LOL

I've actually spent some time this evening researching the FCC rules on transmitting and it looks like an AM transmitter is something you could do and stay on the feds good size. I know wolfgt asked that question in a post a while back and got no response on it. I don't know what the clubs budget is but if there's no room there, I wouldn't mind contributing a bit to get a system. I think you could do it for cheap with the limited distance and openness of where we race. I'd like to be able to hear the announcer throughout the day.

We already own a very good one and use it for the hillclimbs and the Charlote Motor Speedway race. I will talk to Mike L about setting it up.
