Hello,
Does anyone have details/facts/diagrams of the storied recent repaving and possible configuration changes to the infield portion of the road course at Charlotte Motor Speedway? The Track's website doesn't seem to have any related information.
Thanks in advance for any inputs.

On July 26th, I went about fifty laps on the road course and got fairly familiar with the changes. The old infield course is mostly intact with new pavement in place and wider paved run out areas in infield turns 3/4. Grip is very good and the old turn five exit to the NASCAR oval turn one has been moved closer to the road course turn one coming out at the end of the grass center dividing pit road from the oval entrance to NASCAR turn one. Extra loops have been added to the inside straight between old turns three and four but those are optional as the straight has not been disturbed. The possibility of drivers over shooting the turn one, road course turn one turn-in, will probably require some barrier placement to safeguard drivers entering the oval. Lap times should come down compared to the old course so track records are up for grabs.

We will not be running any of the extra loops, just the exit onto the banking is different for the SCCA track layout.

Thank you Brian and Steve for the diagram and information!!! Very happy to have the repaving story confirmed as well as to read more run-off room has been added plus what sounds like the addition of perhaps a less "abrupt" entry to the Oval.
Thanks again, and see YA on Friday, the 14th!

Update on this. The new infield paving was very smooth and had tons of grip. Hated the new section leading onto the banking until we had a chance to start really getting a new line established. Grew on us during the weekend and will be very good once the track finishes the project. Track tells us there will be new curbing with the added paving being safer runoff area. CMS has been very good to work with and has asked for our input going forward. We are lucky as a region to have such a world class facility in our area.
Very much want to thank all the members that came out this weekend to race, and to support the region in all the areas of race support. We had great weather and just had an hour delay for lightning before the start of the night race. Thanks to Nancy Peck for her first weekend as timing chief, really a hard race to start on and she did a great job. Also big thanks to Brian Gause for his continued master cooking for all of us at the social, we fed a lot of people. Results will be posted on the CCR site tonight, or tomorrow. Sorting out the TT Friday results as many cars did not have registered transponder numbers and mixed with test day made it a chore. They about have it figured out, but please be patient. PDX went well with full track and all had a good, safe time. Proud to be a member of a region with such good people supporting all we do.

Hello,
Would it be possible to add Saturday evening's ECR race results to the other "Daylight Into Darkness" results now posted on the Region's Home-page?
Thanks,
