Hi to all the CCR-SCCA members, I have been a member of CCR for almost 15 years with about 10 years running various cars in Solo events, and in recent years I have competed in Time Trials and have been the CCR Representative to the SEDIV TT Committee. I have also participated in novice Solo and PDX programs as an instructor, and was the Solo worker steward for several years. I have previous BOD experience with a nonprofit organization, including 7 years as president. The organization had significant financial challenges and I helped to bring it back to a solid financial footing with assistance from sponsors, banks, and other board members. I have also served on the UNCC Mechanical Engineering Board of Advisors and was involved in obtaining support to startup the Motorsports program with the College of Engineering.
I have a love of motorsports, cars, and enjoy spending time with other car people. CCR-SCCA is a fantastic organization that I have watched grow over the years with increased attendance at Solo and other events. If elected, I will work to address the issues that are part of any volunteer organization including; improving communications with members, support of volunteer workers for events, and membership growth.
I encourage all members to vote!!! This is your club and we have a group of excellent candidates that are committed to making it a fun and positive experience!
Thank you - Shane Findlan

Hi to all the CCR-SCCA members, I have been a member of CCR for almost 5 years and currently compete in our SOLO program. I currently help run and chair our SOLO program, and my various responsibilites include running registration, maintaining our memberships and weekend memberships and keeping up with the SOLO finances. I have also worked timing and registration at numerous road races and hill climbs. I currently hold a Divisional Timing and Scoring License. I have been a 3 time SOLO worker of the year and CCR SCCA Member of the Year. I love and enjoy spending time with all of our CCR racing people, most if not all of them have become like a family to me. When I first started in the SOLO program it was as a spectator and volunteer just helping out and not driving and without the encouragement and push from my second family I would have never got myself in a drivers seat and enjoy this madness. If elected I would love to continue growing our SOLO program, we have grown and kept growing over the years and I would like to see that continue. I believe our SOLO program is one of the best if not the best in the Southeast. This year we have gotten a new timing system and trailer, and the CORE group we have is one of the best I've seen we all work together to get the job done and put on the best events we can. I would also like to see our membership continue to grow. I will also continue to support the volunteer work for all of our events. I'm encouraging all of our members to vote!!! We have a great club and our current board and our current candidates are committed to making all of our programs a fun and positive experience. Attachments:

My name is Nancy Peck, and I am an incumbent candidate for the CCR Board of Directors. I have been an SCCA member for several years. I am not yet a competitor in any SCCA program, but I have been a volunteer worker supporting all of the programs CCR sanctions. Many of you know me from working registration at SOLO, Hillclimb and Road Race events. I’ve also been working Timing and Scoring, at Hill Climbs, TT's Road Races and PDX and my goal is to attain a National Timing and Scoring license. I also volunteered to work in support of 2014’s and 2015's SCCA National Convention which was an amazing experience and I got to meet many interesting people. Since I’m not a competitor, I don’t have that distraction and bring the ability to remain unbiased toward any competition program. I can also view issues from the Volunteers perspective. I’m only work part time and I have the time to devote to the club. I have learned a great deal this last year as a board member and I believe I have served this club well, and would like the opportunity to continue to serve to make the club even better. I would very much appreciate your vote. If you are a member it is a privilege to vote and elect the people who you believe would serve the club the best. Thanks, Nancy Peck

Hello all! My name is Josh Sotomayor and I'm running for the Board this time around! I have been with the club since 2009 and have watched it grow in the process while reaping the rewards of being an active participant in the club's autocross/SOLO program. While the majority of my time with the club has been spent with the SOLO side of things, I look forward to expanding my horizons by asking for your vote for one of the open BoD positions. I believe that the club continues to thrive in part because of our large member base, but also because of a dedicated core group of people, whether that be on the SOLO, time trial, or hillclimb side of the club operations. In recent years it seems that there has been a lot of water cooler talk about the members on the board that I don't think is necessary for the operation or growth of our club. I believe through increased transparency those who have been cornerstones in the clubs activity can continue to lead the club but receive assistance from other members who are out there willing to help, but unable to do so because of the lack of transparency either at the board or the program level. It has been my experience that plenty of folks are willing to lend a helping hand but they can't because they don't know where to start or what needs to be done, in some instances believing that the "powers at be" are behind some sort of veil of secrecy. I firmly believe that removing whatever issues there may be in the dissemination of information will not only reduce the stress of those who are incumbent in key club positions, it will no doubt improve the club as a whole. It is important to remember that this is a volunteer organization, where those who have taken on additional responsibilities in club leadership do so without the return of a regular paying gig, and I can't help but think that the less drama incurred throughout club activities the better. We all just want to show up and have a good time, and there's no reason why that can't be the case for every member of the club, whether in a leadership position or not. Simple adjustments to the way club affairs are handled will remedy the majority of these "issues," and that is all that I am proposing. I hope that I will have your support in this election, and whether I do or not, remember to get out and vote! Thanks to all the members, Josh And in the interest of keeping it light (as it should be): THE THING!

I’m Tony Wentworth, CCR board member since 2003 and treasurer since 2005. A lot has changed and we’ve enjoyed a lot of growth and security since then. We enjoy strong Solo and Road Race/Time Trials programs thanks to the hard work of our board and key members. I’d like to continue to help manage our region for another 3 years. When I joined the board, I had no idea what to expect. Within a few months, I realized that as a board member I would have to really pitch in for us to have successful events and operations month to month. Generally, my responsibility is to maintain our finances in good order and to report to the board each month on the status of our finances having gathered expense reports and information from our various programs. Also, I prepare an annual financial status for our annual business meeting in January of each year. I also arrange for meals, lodging, and rental equipment for our road race and hill climb events. I work with the managers of Charlotte Motor Speedway and Carolinas Motorsports Park on contracts, payments and more. Track invoices are sent to our club mailbox in Charlotte (which I check at least weekly) for me to pay. During the first year that we had the SCCA national convention, I coordinated all the display cars, volunteers, parking and worked closely with the national organizers. I also handle all of the titles, insurance and registrations for all of our trailers and our truck. The key to the success our region has achieved is the teamwork ethic we share. Being a member of our board is a big responsibility especially since we are all “volunteers”. We don’t just support Solo or Road Race/Hill Climb; we support all of our events. We are really blessed with excellent leadership in all of our racing programs. Every year, we not only work hard to put on events, we also want to continue to modernize our equipment for each area we support. I believe we are doing this very well. I want to continue to serve you into the future. Thanks for reading my bio. Please vote for me in this year’s election. Attachments:CCR bio.doc (25.5 KB)
