I think in order to maximize the entries, the registration should be out at least 30 days before the event, I would think. Don't forget we are getting close to peak vacation season up there and rooms will get hard to find.

We hope to have the sanction number this week and then get registration up and running. We think that this will be the best hillclimb to date and have some interesting activities planned.
If anyone is concerned about lodging, better get you reservations cooking. Otherwise, you'll wind up staying in Virginia like Martin did last year.
See you soon. Tony Wentworth, event co-chair

I would like to attend this but dont know if I am eligible. According to the link there is a "Club Trials" segment which requires a Time Trials Novice license. I am an SCCA member and current autocrosser with a V8 Toyota Corolla.
How do you acquire this license. I have done one HPDE at Road Atlanta and one PDX at CMP.
any help would be appreciated. thanks rick

For a Hill Climb you need a full Time Trials license: 1. Apply to Topeka for a Novice Time Trials licence. You need to fill out Medical History form and send $35. 2. Run 3 flat track events then apply for full license. Depending on your age you may need a physical. Send check for $35. OR, you can get Hill Climb approval if you go to a Time Trials School(there was one at Talledega GP Raceway this past April) and there may be a chance you could qualify based on your experience(HPDE, schools, etc.). You also need a full firesuit, current SA helmet, fire extinguisher in car, harness and I'm not sure of the rollbar/cage requirements, if any, for closed cars. I just got my full TT license this week and the BRHC will be my first hillclimb. If I can get an official timed run I'll be happy. C'mon out, TT is a blast. SE Div. I've run several SCCA hillclimbs up north over the years and noticed that they allow novices at all of them. Is this a regional option? I personally think that requiring some experience is a good thing before entering a hillclimb.

I believe it's a National thing. Perhaps when it was under Solo Rules(Solo1) it was different but, now it's under Club Racing and maybe that's the difference. A brief explaination of license requirements can be found here: www.rivergate5speed.com/scca/timetrials/index.htmlAnd, yes, you have to be an SCCA Member to participate as well. Mark

this was copied from the "how to get started" portion of the blueridgehillclimb link. The Club Trials is what I am specifically asking about, the reason why is I dont have a driver suit. I do have an SCCA legal roll-cage, harnesses and fire extinguisher. I have a fire bottle but it isnt yet installed. I have a legal helmet. George Bowland and I ran the Pagoda Hillclimb up in Reading, Pa. a couple of weeks ago and they still allow novices to enter. I have seen this for years and they have no problems that I'm aware of. I just figured it was up to the individual regions or divisions.

I think the TT rules specify that novices are not allowed in Level 4 events (i.e., Hill CLimbs). At least that is the way we have set it up for the Crow Mountain Hill CLimb.
Get hold of Steve Tompkins and plead your case with him. Given sufficient high speed track experience, he can waive the TT novice requirement. If you have held a race license in the past, it will also assist you.
Your car will have to meet the TT technical requirements and you will to have the full personal safety compliment (fire suit (and nomex undies if it is a one piece), nomex socks, driving gloves, proper shoes, SA95 or later helmet, nomex balaclava (if you have facial hair, arm restraints).

So far the SEDIV has Gainesville, Florida Level 2 Club Trial (usually at the first of the year), CMP (shared with a Level 3) and possibly the talks going on for other Level 2's for 2007.
