As a relatively new member of CCR, someone please tell me what is going on in Facebook and with all the sarcasm among the club. I just want to race, dodge cones and learn - not be apart of all this crap. Hopefully posting here will yield some decent answers.

This is some of what is going on at this time Jake, copied from the general discussion.
I would like to update the membership on the situation that has developed in our recent BOD election. A group of CCR members decided to appoint themselves to monitor this past election. They illegally hacked into the CCR voting email server that is set up to direct all voting emails to the duly elected Secretary of CCR SCCA. They downloaded your private votes without authorization as voting was being conducted. Further these votes and their totals were passed to a select group of individuals prior to the outcome of the election being announced to the general membership. The totals that were passed around were different than those published by the Secretary because they contained votes that were not valid. Members of other regions voted in our election. Members that have expired voted. Our Secretary, Scott Franklin, audits the votes to a National database the day voting closes. Any members votes that show as not valid are then cross checked with National office to see if they have paid their membership in the time since the report was pulled to be sure. Some votes that would not have counted were then placed back in with this final check. Every effort is taken by our Secretary to see that every member of the region is given a fair chance to be heard.
I have seen the posts here that we be audited by the National office. Be fully aware the National office has been involved in this for some time. Our web server has been locked and an investigation is underway to determine the extent of the intrusion into the voting emails. This may very well result in criminal charges being filed against some individuals.
I would strongly urge all involved with this situation to email the BOD at ccrboard@ccrscca.com by Friday, January 22nd to make arrangements to speak with us on this matter. I would like to see this matter settled and placed behind us as a stupid mistake with no regard for consequences. After Friday that option is off the table.
Best Regards,
Steve Eckerich
CCR Regional Executive

Thanks Blair. I did read that on FB but my concern is more of the heart of the members/individuals behind it all. Even before all of this election stuff there was craziness about the annual banquet. Maybe I'm a little naive on thinking that being a part of a car club (my first, FWIW) was comradery, not conflict. I guess another question to ask is what is the health (financial, stability, membership, etc.) of the club?

Jake,
The club is doing fine and we will have a great 2016 season. We are strong financially and have a growing membership. This situation is not as bad as it seems and sometimes things need to be broken apart and put back together in a better way. This whole election scenario in the end will good for the club, as it looks like the BOD will be making changes that needed to be made.
So see you in February and let's have some fun.

We have had to cancel the Banquet scheduled for tomorrow night in Asheville. I live a few miles from Sierra Nevada and we have had almost 10 inches of snow with plenty more expected through the night into tomorrow evening. Sierra Nevada is closed with no concrete plans to reopen tomorrow night. We plan to reschedule in February as we are now on top of the division Banquet in St Simon as well as the 24 in Daytona. As soon as the BOD meets this week by con call we will update the membership on this and other pending matters. I will make posts in the coming days with items to be placed on the agenda and it is our goal to have revisions to the region bylaws prepared for member input and a vote. If you have constructive suggestions please send those to ccrbod@ccrscca.com. This forwards directly to all BOD members. Best Regards, Steve Eckerich CCR RE Welcome Jake!
