Anyone know anything about Targa Southland?

Hi all!

A while back SCCA was running an ad on facebook for an event called Targa: Southland. Does anyone here know anything about this?

The fb add said it was going to take place August 11-14th and would be organized by the Central Carolina region, Atlanta Region, and Kentucky region. Would cover three days at Charlotte motor speedway, AMP, and NCM motorsports park.

I have run auto-x with the Chattanooga region (when we had somewhere to run ) and East Tennessee region, I race karts at AMP and have covered many miles across the mountains of east TN, NC, and north GA so this event sounded like a blast to me! But the dates are getting close and I haven't heard anything more about it and a qick search came up with nothing more than the original FB ad and early release on SCCA's website.

So, long story short. Does anyone know anything about Targa: Southland?

This SCCA National Targa event is to begin at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday, August 12 and travel to two other tracks (Atlanta, Kentucky) during the three day weekend circuit. It is conducted by the SCCA and registered via their registration site. The CCR Daylight-to-Darkness Friday Test day track hours will be shared by the CCR Time Trial and the SCCA Targa event. Targa participants will arrive at CMS Thursday (Aug 11)evening, drive in a autocross Friday morning and do track sessions on the speedway road course in the afternoon.

Do you know where to register for the Targa event or if they are still having it?

I searched scca's site as well as a general web search and havn't found anything.

Since the Targa is not a CCR event we have to find out information as it becomes available on the SCCA site. I do not receive any direct communication as to the event particulars.

I just got word registration will be open before the end of the week. Last con call to be sure all the events are set is tonight. I will post a link here to registration as soon as it opens. It is definitely a go Brian.

To help with planning by those of us "Daylight To Darkness" Friday Test Day entrants, given the Targa event schedule indicates the involved participants' Friday track activities are to begin at 3:00 pm, what is the schedule for the Test Day?
