The GCR and TT rules state that the helmet should contain a minimum of the driver's name. What I'm curious about is how much of the driver's name is typically put on the helmet? First name? Last name? First initial + last name? First name + last name? Full name (incl. middle)? When I was watching the runoffs the other day (was still catching up on watching all the ones I recorded) I noted that some had their first and last name on the back of the helmet, but some only appeared to have a first initial + last name, so I was curious what the consensus for this seems to be. Thanks.

Shane, SCCA in the past required a number of information details such as blood type, birth date (age), allergies and full name. Now it is left to the driver as to how much they want to make public. The minimum of a name can be expanded to whatever you feel is necessary to properly identify you and your medical alerts if any.

Club Racing has now switched to having drivers medical information and other relevant details (like contact names/numbers) on a card that goes inside a plastic sleeve and is attached to your helmet.
This idea came from motorcycling and these plastic sleeves are available from any good motorcycle store.
Corner workers and track medics will be looking for this information "packet" on helmets now.
You no longer complete a medical form at registration (which solved certain privacy legal issues that arose with legislation in last few years).

If the driver medical forms are no longer required, how can we be certain important, relevant information is readily accessible to emergency personnel on-site if involved in an incident?
Also, we do we still have them attached to our "supps"?

See note from PW above. They now use a little plastic pocket that carries your medical information and "consent to treat" signature. This sticks onto your helmet. The registrar should have some available (at least if my wife is there). The benefit of this is that the medical personnel have immediate access to this info without having to track down the registration/medical files.
We are considering using these in the AX program as well, since we do not have any other medical info on our participants.
