We may have two or three people from the Virginia Beach Area wanting to do hillclimbs with us next season.
What are the chances of having a TT driver's school early in the spring to qualify these people for Wolf's Ridge and Eagle's Nest.
I know about the Little Talledaga Gran Prix School being planned, but I I was thinking of someting not so far away - like CMP.

I know TJ and two other drivers that would be in for certain. I like CMP a lot better than the trip to Talledega. What say ye, Tony? Is there an alternate site that would be more econmically feasible in our region? I'd be glad to start a petition but I canonly fake about 30 signatures and then I get tired and they all look the same.

Where to begin? First, the words of Mr. Eckrich regarding next year's schedule: "We have 3 very big road race weekends and 2 hillclimbs at present." Note no mention of a TT at CMP, only 2 HC. I would first like to know we are having a Spring event at CMP.
Second, Alabama, TVR & the TAC have worked very hard over the years to build the Spring TT school. You have to have, Students, Instructors and a field of TT entrants to make it all work. They barely make expenses on the venture. If CCR puts a TT school up against it it may put both in jeopardy. With this year's Wolf Ridge conflict with the Nashville TT another conflicting event put on by CCR may not be viewed well by the SEDiv. TT admin.
Personally, I'd like to see us do a school in the Fall...note, we had CMP reserved this year for a September date but we gave it up. The school could work thus: Split track on Saturday with school on the flat side and TT on North course. Sunday, school merges into TT and runs full course. This past Spring doing the two layouts and merging times for TT was a neat way to do it. But, what do I know?

Mark,
Sounds like a plan. Have you got a sponsor in mind for the $15,000 track expense after entry fees? Unless we have help from sponsors, the expenses without a large turnout (80+) will eat us up. When High Rock and Penske get ready for use, the options may increase our ability to put together an event such as that. Time/Track Trials are needed to provide racers a progression to level 3/4 TTs and go on to be Club racers. We do not presently have a Time Trial school planned.

ALSCCA will look into getting ahold of TGPR in April (we hope). As several of you know it is an excellant race course now. TVR will help and with interest already coming out for new students we will look at it. November will be a crucial month. Also always remeber that with 3 flat track events under your belt that can also get you a full TT license. Documented high speed events can help as well as long as you get Steve Tompkins to sign off.

Brian is giving you the truth. The TT community has failed to support the past CMP events and we can not plan an event to loose money. A school is a huge hole in the ground and we need to support the region that has one planned already. We are looking at the possibility of a one day TT at CMP the monday of Memorial Day weekend. We use Sat and Sun for the Double SARRC and it is a possibility to make it work. Would you support the event? It takes at least 80 cars to pay for CMP as a stand alone TT. We have to plan venues that you will support and that are financially viable. You can vote for the TT events you want to keep with your checkbook. The BOD is very supportive of the TT program and we are working hard to plan future events.

A possible option for Memorial Day weekend: Get some of the TT drivers to help work the road races on Saturday and Sunday for credit on their TT entry Monday. Would give them exposure to road racing and save them some bucks. Just some ideas to kick around.

Thanks for the clarification Brian / Steve.
The BOD and CCR have been VERY supportive of TT .... no one doubts that and it is appreciated. Considering we are having 50 or less driving these events and 2 hillclimbs, I am amazed ...and thankful that there is understanding that TT is the connection between AX and Road Racing for the future. A symbiotic relationship and a variety of racing pleasure for everyone.
TT is just one finger of the CCR region... and I am hoping over the next year or two, we can make our prescence felt in SCCA at a more Nationally competitive level in all areas. I think it's already starting... looking at early reports from run-offs, Solo Nationals, southeastern competitions, hillclimbs. That's a testimony to moving the right direction... and I think we all like the direction things are going. Thanks again!
Ted P.S. Marc... hush!!! You want 10+ miatas in CSP? With a nice mix of younger lighter drivers with Playstation 2 reflexs ...AND older experienced drivers with wallets bigger than the wing on George's car? Tell your sweet wife to take you to Hardees...and get that man a monster sized hamburger with extra bacon and cheese!!!! ;D

Jefferson Circuit (Summit Point) runs under the PHA banner in the spring and is a great training facility. Hopefully it won't be in conflict with Talladega which is a great facility. Also remember that PHA will allow novices to run any event. Long drive, but great experience at well attended and well run events.

Thanks George... please keep us posted in advance on dates and times for those events "north of the Mason Dixon Line". I'm thinking about making a trip or two up that way next year.

I may be wrong about this, but I believe Summit Point, WV is on the right side of the Mason Dixon.

What is this world coming to? Can you believe it? Some Yankee has redrawn the Mason Dixon map again... next thing you know, they will be writing books saying the Yankees won the Civil War! ;D I stand corrected... you got me that time Stan.
