There is a short article in the latest Grassroots Motorsports on the Eagles Nest event. Great photo of our own Tony Wentworth on his way to the top of the Mountain.
Go job on the article Tony!
And thanks to Grassroots for putting an article about our event in their Magazine.

Thanks, guys. There will be a longer article about Wolf Ridge by Scott Lear in the next Grassroots to hit your mailboxes and newstands with more pics and print. Scott is a much better writer than I so it will be better.
This is what we need, though, is exposure.
Might also be noteworthy that I submitted a similar article to Sports Car and also one last year about the last Blue Ridge event and was ignored by them, plus our own SEDiv reporter was sent the info and dates about both of our hillclimbs well in advance and she did not mention either of them in her monthly column. I think we get better exposure from GRM than our own mag, bogus as that may be.

When it comes to real grassroots articles then you can forget about SportsCar - at least back in the nineties they would put up the results of a Solo 1 and they did do an article on the last Chimney Rock - but nowadays there isn't squat. Here are a few of the excuses I got "Your article is too long", "Your article was too short", "You put the 2nd/and 3rd place finishers", "You didn't put the 2nd and 3rd place finishers"..........see a trend? They just don't give a rip. I wish I had an option on the membership form to move to GRM as the club mag.

Well, here it is February and the GRM article about Wolf Ridge still has not appeared in print. Scott keeps updating that it will be in the "next issue". Keep watching. I'm sending in my renewal along with a note to Tim that he is starting to act like the editors of Sports Car by not running hillclimb news.

Hmmm.... what if we talked him into a "hillclimb" corner? Think we could get George, Steve or someone to write a monthly article for post? I'm betting that might grab their attention... especially for free. Once we have the article...starting tacking on results at the bottom of the article. What 'cha think?

Maybe it should be "Hillclimb Angles". I would be willing to write up a couple of them if someone else will do others. Getting Suddard to agree to run them is another story.

Mark: I've not seen the NC Weekend piece yet, either. I've e-mailed them a couple of times since last August and the e-mails "bounced" back. I'll try this week to call them. I've not seen a Southern Living article, either. They had some free lance folks covering it, as well. I'll work on all angles.

I got a reply from "Our State" magazine that a article on Chimney Rock is to appear in their April issue. It should have something on the hillclimb, I understood.

Go to Grassroots Motorsports forum and post something on hillclimbs every week or two. You'll see there is a lot of interest. That should get their attention.

Update on the NC Weekend footage which was shot at last year's Eagle's Nest---they have not run it yet!!!!! I requested a dvd of the program and was told that if, repeat IF, they show the program, then they might give me a dvd but it's not normally done. Now, if this is not just too typical of a taxpayer-funded, bureaucratic bunch of s..t, I don't know what is! Being reminded that we gave them unprecedented access, including several camera runs up the mountain, interviews, etc. made no impression on their program director. When asked if the show had yet to run, she did not know and did not know when it would! Scary. I'll keep hounding them.

I suggest we all contact UNC-TV on a regular basis in the next few weeks. Let the wheels begin to sqeek! They will be trying to find some grease soon enough. I've also tried to contact them a few times by e-mail but don't believe I've recieved much in reply. Here is the link: www.unctv.org/ncweekend/
