13" v710 on Diamonds www.diamondracingwheels.com/ for me it was cost, the 710s on Diamonds were about $350/set less than going with Hoosiers at the time. Plus, according to the Tire Rack Spec Sheet, the wheel size range for each is different enough that you had to pick which set-up you were going with and use that wheel

Mark speaketh the truth.
Plus. you are going to burn ;D some tires getting started. Kumhos DO last a LOT longer than Hoosiers. I know one gentleman who ran 4 events this year on one set of Hoosiers and corded them... a distance of less than ten miles!!!!
The Hoosiers are soft and grippy but ... yeeeoooouuuccchhh! That sure hits the wallet. Better to spend the money on more important things like decals... estimated 3.2 HP for each decal over 4" x 6" in size. ;D

I'm currently running 185/60-14 Victos on 14x6 K1-TS wheels, but only because they were so cheap at the time I bought them (those tires were on closeout for $59/each) that I couldn't pass up the deal (plus I was still new to track events in the MR2, so seat time has been far more important than sheer grip).
My eventual plan is wider 13-inch tires (likely the 215/50 Kumho V710s or the 225/45 Hankook Z214s) on 13x8 wheels.

The most important thing for me is seat time also. That being said, I need tires(and maybe wheels) and I dont want to buy wheels twice. I have stock 14x5.5(street tires), havent been on car for like a year. I have 15x7.5 wheels with my STS2 tires, and an identical set of wheels that are 16x7(with my old sts2 tires). I have thought about finding used(or new) tires for my 16's to just get by for a little while, like RA1, victos, etc. I also thought of selling the 16's and by 13's with that money. Then the decision is, v710, A6, Z214, or something else.

The Z214s are the cheapest of that group, but the V710s will be among to best-wearing (depending on which compound of Z214 you get as they come in C7 (autocross/sprint), C5 (road race), and C3 (endurance) compounds). There are always the Hoosier R6s as well, which wear slower than the A6s (but, as such, aren't quite as grippy). FWIW, there is a guy from Tennessee on SCCAforums.com selling some lightly used 225/50-16 and 225/45-17 V710s. That's where I got the set of 225/45-17 V710s that I recently bought for my WRX (after I corded my Z211s and needed to finish the season). The rolling diameter is a bit tall for a Miata or MR2, but the pricing is great. Here is the thread: sccaforums.com/forums/1/270318/ShowThread.aspx#270318Also, frisbyracetire.com still has a few sizes of the discontinued Hankook Z211 left as well (they are similar to Victoracers, in my experience) for very good prices: www.frisbyracetire.com/z211sale.html
