The 2008 Central Carolinas Region, Time Trial calendar will wave it's first flag May 25, 2008 at Carolinas Motor Sports Park. TT drivers will have an opportunity to establish a new class record on the reconfigured CMP full Road Racing course. As a new feature for 2008, CCR has brought aboard Continental Tire North America, as a series sponsor for the "CCR Triple Crown Time Trial Series" The special features of this series, add to the SEDiv TT series in the following ways. Any appropriately (per SCCA TT requirements) licensed driver is eligible. All competing drivers will receive a special series hat. There will be three (3) events in this sub series. 1. The "May Memorial Monster" TT. 2. The "Wolf Ridge Hill Climb" 3. The "Rockin-Road Hillclimb" All three (3) events must be run to qualify for the end of series, special championship trophies. Trophies will be awarded at each event as at a regular SEDiv TT event. Competitors will have the potential to receive four (4) trophies if they run all three (3) events and place well enough in their class. Points at other SEDiv TT events do no count for the Triple Crown points total. Points for this series are tabulated per the SCCA schedule. Classes are the same as the SEDiv TT current offering for 2008. Awards for the series will be given at the end of competition at the final event . Drivers that have to leave early will have an option to receive their trophy via mail. Series trophy qualifying Drivers, that place first, second and third in class, will participate in a drawing for a set of Continental/General tires drawn for each level of placement. Three (3) sets of tires total will be awarded. More details will follow on the CCR Web page. Brian Gause CCR-SCCA, BOD, TTC

Great news! I think I'll take you guys up on this new CMP event instead of hauling 8-9 hours to the SEDiv (Nashville) TT the weekend B-4.

Warp3: Since you slept last. Just kidding. We had some time included in track rental for the double SARRC that weekend so we are incorporating the TT. Practice on Sunday afternoon, timed runs on Monday all day. Tell your friends!

CMP would be the place for Brothers Hallman and Theodore to show their stuff and set some TT track records in the process. I can tell you from driving a very capable Volvo C30 turbo around the new configuration that you are really, really going to like the changes to the track and the new pavement added to critical areas including the "carousel" of turns 5,6 and 7-you can carry a good amount of speed through there without losing it, still come out with a good exit set up for the straight leading to 8. Nick, you'll doubtless get a good look at your SCR Muse event.
The new facitilities are very good. Those that want to rent garage space under cover and on level concrete will have that opportunity. The new timing building is nice if a bit small. We hear they plan to remove the trailer but I think they need to keep it for a food, snack break area, radio/equipment issue area, radio/battery charging, etc.
I really think it will be a fun event for us TT'ers.

Another Formula Ford!! This is going to be a fun season. I've got the ol' Caldwell on the stands this weekend installing a new clutch. Only the third one in over 25 years. Testing at VIR's Patriot Course, March 30th with Tidewater sports Car Club.

I won't be road racing this car... it's a TT and Hillclimb machine only. So May would be my first look at the new track. There's still a lot of work to do before it's track-worthy... but it's definitely whip-Bandit-at-autocross-worthy right now.

Yes, Nick it is. The Novice should have his/her Novice Log Book with them and upon successful completion of the TT, we will sign off in the book. Tell them to see me and I'll take care of them, orientate them, etc. Glad to have any novices.
By the way, interested readers, the Memorial Monster schedule has been created and we definitely will have practice time on Sunday after the road race, so come prepared to suit up, warm up and hit the track as soon as they finish. More on that when the schedule is posted here on the CCR home page.

I'de like to participate as a novice also. Assuming I have a car that passes tech, what do I need to do as a driver to apply for a novice license ?
Thanks
