I had heard that the 2006 June Jam at LMS was the last one... Can someone please confirm? Any plans for a June Jam at another venue? Thanks

This will be the 14th Annual Last Ever June Jam. And yet, we keep returning.

Every year the board looks at events and if they were successful or not. If the racers want to keep an event at LMS, show up and race! If the racers don't want an event, don't show up, let it be a failure this year and we'll stop doing the race. Of course there are other things than participation, but that's one big thing.

We were facing a number of problems running events at Lowe's (CMS). A big one was that the NASCAR and/or TV guys (not CMS) kept cutting the Timing Loop circuit that we used for timing our races. Another was in entrants access to the track before the event which impacted when competitors could get ready for the race. There was also talk of the infield course being removed (some of you know how RV parking now is 'part of' the road course) and an issue with medical facilities being demolished and a delay in replacement.
A number of people, both from CCR and Lowe's, have worked hard to resolve many of those issues and make life more pleasant for both CCR and for the Track.
Based on this, we've seen an improvement in entries and an improvement in being able to run a successful event. Consequently, we will continue to run at Lowe's.
We know one day the Medical facility will be demolished. (It doesn't really meet the needs relating to the number of people that attend the NASCAR events). We should be able to work around that.
The best way to help keep this event on the calendar is to help with organization. For example, we were very short-staffed in Registration last year - the track requires us to keep longer hours than at other sites.

If that's what it takes I'll help at registration. Who do I talk to?

To add to what pistonwheels is saying is that it takes a great deal of effort to organize and run any race and running one at a track as large as Lowes requires even more. We need folks outside the board of directors to become course marshalls, stewards, tech inspectors, scrutineers, flagging and communication(F&C) workers, paddock marshalls, timing and scoring personnel, sound control and safety stewards, and last but not least race chairmen. You don't have to do anything for any of these positions except be an apprentice to one of us who will train you to do these jobs. Your willlingness to work with us side by side will enable you and us to hold better events at all levels of racing. If you are interested in joining us in this effort, contact a board member or specialty chief listed on this web site and we will welcome you. We have a Track Trial/Solo event coming April 7-8 at CMP in Kershaw. Come join us and help out. I think you'll have fun and you'll be ready to help at the Memorial Monster club race at CMP in May and the regional at Lowes! Oh, and if you really want to have some fun, come work the Wolf Ridge Hillclimb May 19-20!
