They said something about this being the nation's first 'Green Racetrack.' So, what, is the asphalt going to be made of soybeans and recycled cardboard, and we can all race our biodiesels?
Really though, I'm just curious how this is the first I've heard mention of this in the 3 or 4 years we've all been watching and waiting. Is the Green thing a new development to help appease the people who originally protested becauset of the negative environmental impact?

Thanks for the vid Rich.
As I understand it, the Green part will be the recycling of the old buildings. The bricks will be used in the new condos, the metal will be melted down into new beams, the cement reused for ? ......
Apparently , all the Towns , are now very tired of the Histerical folks. They have realized how much money it cost everyone.

The technology mentioned by Chunk13 is what was used for the widening from the NC/SC state line on I-77 between Carowinds Blvd. and until it narrows to 2 lanes each side well past the Dave Lyle Blvd. exit. South Carolina is paving/repaving with this method and it is absolutely the safest pavement you will drive on in the rain. You see no shiny spots, no rain spray on your windshield from the tires of the vehicles in front of you and your tires have great traction with no fear of hydroplaning. Too bad the NC DOT has not embraced this method of paving on our side of the state line. They used the same old blacktop re-paving method and in the recent rainy conditions, you can still see the difference when you cross the line.
If High Rock uses this technology, it will be a great innovation for racing. If NASCAR would do this, they could virtually eliminate rain cancellations/shortenings. Heaven knows they have the money to do it.

And not only is it safe (which I wasn't even thinkin about), but also enviormentally friendly since the water runs thru the pavement and into the enviornment instead of drying up on top. If all parking lots used this, we would have less water issues.
