Can we get Rob do design the NTI course as well? So no nasty 1st gear u-turns. Okay?

That's a rather difficult request considering the lot layout at NTI, it's tiny compared to Continental and there are too many light poles. To have a similar design to the 24 hour would probably result in a 20 second course.
One of the intriguing aspects of autox is the variety of the course designs.

I think after the open and fast course we had at the 24hr, a tight and technical course would be good. Variety is good and it WILL STILL BE FUN.

Additionally, it doesn't matter who designs the course. Steve and I could design courses, some would like them, some would not.

I'd recommend doing some crossovers or other design elements such as that rather than pivot cones. Less frustrating, less chance of gearboxes exploding, and leads to a better overall experience. Given the lot size there will be some tight and technical elements but making the entire course as such I feel is just unnecessary and shouldn't be done intentionally. There are a lot of unintentionally tight courses (NCAC Day1 the most recent example) to make up for any amount of perceived "fast" courses that the club could design as a whole. -Biggly

Mike doesn't need to downshift. I rode with him in my car while he did the entire first half of the 24 hour course in 3rd! At one point he even hit 4th gear for a long sleeper and skillfully kept it from stalling...
Cassino: I wanted to drive the impala but I had to pull my wimp-chute at about 5:30am. My plan of power napping in the volvo backfired. Aside from sweating like a pig and getting eaten by mosquitos the sounds of performance mufflers idling by makes it not so easy to nod off.
Shoulda listened to pdawg's pre-event warning!

In 1978, Jessie Tennant built a course at Olympic High School that spelled out "CCR" in script. It was a good course, too.

Actually, that event was at Independence High School......not at Olympic. Pretty good lot, and we used to run there regularly.

Gee JB, Our autox roots go back farther than we could possibaly have thought. I talked to Richard a lil while ago, and it was 1979 when both went to our first autox at Independence, He had a 1973 chocolate (UPS) brown Triumph spitfire. I don't recall another convertable with an easier top to put up when the rain came than that little thing. I had a 1973 Firebird Formula, Bright yellow with a 4-speed, I think it still had the stock rally wheels and GM generic F78-14 "Steel Belted Radial" on it (remember them ?) Later it had a set of American 200S's and some 1st gen Radial T/A's F60-14, on it, and a 12 Bolt rear. Don't suppose ya remember either one of us do ya? We didn't do all that well anyway. I know I was in F/S, don't thik he remembers what class he was in. Guess we both shoulda stuck with it instead of waiting 25 years to get started again, HUH??
As long as we're havin' fun now !!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
