I thought we had that issue settled. Which issue would that be? To paraphrase that dude from the "Eagles" All I wanna do is autocross. But if Someone has to deal with the politics to do so, count me in.

I believe that we need to have a meeting some evening to discuss this. Who is interested and where should we have it? My place in Matthews is available if it is convenient for others

I would be happy to help/chair an event or two. One easy way to do this is to have a Solo Chair (who represents us on the board) and then have several folks who can take on the role of event chairs - divided up across the season, it wouldn't be too burdensome to anyone.
So count me in.
Sounds like we still should have a committee meeting, and I will repeat something I brought up earlier in the year. According to Martin - the purpose of the socials is to be the AX committee meeting. We should take minutes and set an agenda for each of these. It will help keep track of what is discussed and provides our future solo chair something to carry to the board.

That's a good suggestion, Shane.
The Board is really interested in our input.

I hope they are. If we can get a couple of our Solo participants elected to the board, plus have the input of the Solo Chair - we may be able to get information to flow uphill as well as downhill.

Yeah, I'm starting to get into this. For example, I know I'm nowhere near able/willing to consider any 'Solo Chair' for a long time to come, but I could really get behind taking helm or some kind of point position for something like a single NTI event or school within the next year or two. Hey, set something up, there's a few of us young'uns just itching to be some kind of 'leaders-in-training' and event chair roles could be just the type of thing for that.

That is exactly what will be needed for this to be successfu. Steven has been amazing - Cook and Bottle Washer as we used to say! But it would be great if we get a Solo Chair (sounds like Dave M "autoxdad" may be volunteering) and some assistants so that we can develop a group of experienced event volunteers. Looks like we already have a few event volunteers! Exalt to ya!

Here's a little suggestion. In the blue ridge region we have a "solo director" and then "event chairs" for every event. Now this only of course works if people volunteer to "chair" one or more events per season. It might take off some of the burden of being the "solo chair".

That's the problem, Steven has been Solo Chair and event chair at most events...I'm surprised he lasted this long. If Conti is going to be the new home course that will solve many a problem. I don't know if there is a basic checklist for putting on an event but, that might be a good place to start. A base format for putting on an event will take a lot of the "geez, where do ya start" out of the equation. Hence, it should help in getting Event Chairs to volunteer. The current methodology of having folks sign up prior to the event is also a good start.
Sue & I hope to be at RiRa.

Also, a timeline for each event needs to be established. i.e. - 4 weeks out...this needs to be done 3 weeks out....this needs to be done
etc, etc, etc

Sounds like we need a Chair, a couple of assistants, of which John Byrd has volunteered (Kinda), 4-5 event chairs, and a webmaster to keep things up to date on the website, along with some more safety stewards to help Bill (we did get a good start this last year). There are a lot of good ideas on here so far. Keep them coming. See you at the meeting! Dave

I will volunteer to be the Webmaster. I am already a Mod here. I will also help wherever it is needed. I don't feel comfortable enough being and Event Chair, as I am still "technically" a noob!!
