I would be happy to help/chair an event or two. One easy way to do this is to have a Solo Chair (who represents us on the board) and then have several folks who can take on the role of event chairs - divided up across the season, it wouldn't be too burdensome to anyone. So count me in. Sounds like we still should have a committee meeting, and I will repeat something I brought up earlier in the year. According to Martin - the purpose of the socials is to be the AX committee meeting. We should take minutes and set an agenda for each of these. It will help keep track of what is discussed and provides our future solo chair something to carry to the board. So are you suggesting to have the meeting at the social or having one before or after it? |

I am suggesting that we conduct a Solo Committee meeting (an ad-hoc committee in this case - whoever is there is the committee) during the socials. No need to have separate events. We are already doing this informally. Usually we arrive with plans on what to discuss, and then we leave with some action items. I am suggesting that we formalize it slightly, by setting up a simple agenda (topics, issues to be discussed) followed with simple meeting minutes (bulletized list of what was discussed and action items, if any). Since this would be an advisory committee to the Solo Chair and the BoD, there is no need to have this be overly formal or regulated. I would suggest that we let the socials continue as they are, but just document the output. All of this can be posted on the forum so anyone can read it.
We could start calling them Solo Committee and Social Meetings. Maybe it would elevate the interest level.
And, I would further propose that we continue to permit the consumption of beer - and the selection of locations that involve either kilts or Irish Pubs. I would not be opposed however to meeting at locations that hang race cars from the ceiling (QS&L comes to mind).
Let's continue to have fun - it is why we do this and why we get together once a month to "bench/bar race"

Haven't got the time to read all the pages right this moment, but basically the position that needs to be filled is the Solo Series Chairman. This person organzies the Solo program as a whole, and does not have to be a member of the Board of Directors.
Now, sometimes, or a lot of the time, the Solo Series Chairman might also be the event chairman, but that's up to how many of the events teh Series Chair wants to do all the work for, and how many he/she can get others to step us as single event chairs for.
I will still be helping with the CCR solo program, as much as I can find time for, I just can't make the comitment to it the way I have for the past 5 or so years.

We really need to have folks come out and discuss who would like to take on the role of Solo Chair, who would be willing to help out as event chairs, and who will be our "stewards" for 2007. I would be happy to assist as an event chair and continue as work steward (and assist as needed as SSS/DSS).
Should we also have a Co-Chair to assist with the Solo Chair duties?
Sadly I can't be there - but those are my thoughts.
