Well, I hate to bring this up - But Steven did ask that we put a line in the forum on this topic.
After years of running a 1st class program and doubling the participation, Steven Rankins has stated that he will step down from the Solo Events Chair position. As Steven stated at the drivers meeting yesterday (repeated here somewhat - for those who weren't there), the new Chair will have an easier job than he did at first > we have a lot of "specialized" volunteers who have taken on some of the key tasks and have made them their own. This includes registration, tech, workers, waivers, socials, etc. I won't try to repeat who does what, since if you read this and the rest of the forums - you know who they are.
Steven has asked that someone or more than one volunteer for this position. This is a good opportunity to step up and really help out the club.

I think the idea of Co-chairs is good. Maybe one of the old guard (JB, Shane, Rich...) along with one of the new guys (McCallister, Mike, John...) to learn the ropes and pass it along to the next generation.

That may be a pretty good idea! It would help provide some extra coverage as well.
I should also add that Steven offered to assist as needed, so you won't be in the deep end of the pool right away. But, he won't be able to be at every event as he works on his F-1 career! ;D

Actually it's for the SOLO Chair, not event chair...
And I don't want to do it... at least not alone.
What about co-chairs?

Sorry, I was using the terms from the rule book which refers to the event chair, but you are correct in that for this program we can have a Solo Chair and have separate event chairs, if needed. As far as Co-Chair, I guess that would be a board decision? ? Steven is a member of the board, but I don't know if that is an automatic position if you are Solo chair, or if you must be elected.

You'll still want one Solo Chair. At tirebuyer told me, we could have several folks take on the role of event chairs to assist. 4 folks could each do a couple of event and help spread the load. But someone needs to be the board rep as Solo Chair and would need to have oversite.
A committee is a good idea and could become a formal part of our socials - we have volunteers staffing all of the key positions, so it shouldn't be too difficult.
But, we do need a chairperson for Solo.

What I was suggesting is to form a solo committee. The committe would elect a chair.
