The V1 is pretty good about discriminating between radars. I run mine on "logic" mode which mutes any radars that it suspects are non-threatening (you still hear them, but at the "muted" volume level instead of full volume...choosing "full logic" mode instead would make them not sound at all if deemed non-threatening). Generally what it considers "non-threatening" are X-band radar signals from the side at relatively low power (i.e. mostly door openers). If the signal becomes front or rear directed or increases in strength, though, it immediately goes to normal volume for that tracked radar.
The best thing about the V1 by far, are the directional indicators and bogey counter, through. The combination of the strength meter, the arrows, and the bogey counter often give you a much better idea of what is actually going on. Example: One day the V1 was going off, so I backed off a bit...I looked ahead and saw an unmarked police car (unmarked, but still very obviously a police car) parked on the side of the road...I passed it and was about to pick my speed back up until I noticed the arrow still pointed ahead (and still only read "1" on the counter)..."hmmm...that's odd"...so I stayed at my current speed instead...around the next corner comes a fully marked police car (which the V1 tracked with the arrows as he passed, so he was definitely running his radar).
As for jammers...from what I've read: Passive jammers are legal, but repeated testing has shown that they simply don't work. Active jammers *do* work, but aren't legal.

Yeah I have a somewhat older model and it beeps ALL the time, to the extent that I refuse to turn it on around town (don't really need it then anyway). It's somewhat helpful on the interstate, and doesn't randomly beep as much...but I still often don't know where it's coming from. *shrugs*

After doing tons of extensive research, I found that there are only three radar detector models to get, the rest are not worth it:
1.) Valentine One 2.) Escort 8500 X50 3.) Bel RX65 Professional
I have the Bel, it works great and has already payed for itself.

I LOVE my V1.. And your avatar.. wish it was a bigger pic! (pic of girl) FWIW: It appears that if you remove "small" from the URL, you get a *slightly* larger pic.

Well guys. Due to financial problems here in Asheville, and a bunch of other things going on in my life right now, I have made the decision to move to Knoxville, TN. I will be moving after this Sundays HSCC event at BSM. I will be living with my sister and her roomate, so rent will be very cheap! Im getting out of the car business and getting something monday thru friday, so I can enjoy my weekends.
This means I wont be able to come to the remaining CCR points events. Thats the worst part of this, Im going to miss everyone with CCR! I have so many friends with CCR and I will miss you all. I will still be at the 24hr, and NCAC, and maybe a few other events.
So long CCR.. Look for me at the Huntsville National Tour, and Solo Nationals.

I'm planning to be there. What exactly do I need to do? Make a list of the people who are in attendance from our team and inform Steve? Then whip out the jack handle and start cracking shins of any members who haven't paid yet? LOL ;D

Then whip out the jack handle and start cracking shins of any members who haven't paid yet? LOL ;D Since you guys haven't made any changes to your roster, there is no need to give me an updated roster sheet. No need to take attendance either, I'll find out when I tabulate the results after the event. The only thing you need to do is collect $10 from Tara Knoll and Gregg Henderson, they are the only 2 remaining members of Team Subaru who have not paid their season fee. Thanks and see you guys on Sunday.

After some discussion with Steven K at Statesville, we have opted to remove Greg from the roster due to non-attendance (as we suspect Tara will likely still show for some of the later season events like the 24-hr) and add Steven Rankins instead (who ran Pro yesterday at Statesville and hopefully will be autocrossing a bit more than he has through the start of the season). I informed Steve Shin during the course walk yesterday, but didn't think to nab $10 from Rankins...oops.
