Hey guys, I'm Matt and new to the sport. I attended the novice school on the 17th and, as it appears always happens, have been hooked. I couldn't make it out on the 18th, but will be running at zMax in April. I am a bit unsure of what class I should be running though. I'm going to run novice, but I drive a 24v swapped e30, and if I remember the classroom portion correctly that puts me in SSM or above. I'm posting my build thread from another forum below to for the full mod list, but highlights in addition to the swap are upgraded springs, shocks, sways, shock/strut tower bars, bushings, big brakes, larger diameter/wider wheels, and rolled fenders in the rear for more rubber. I'm on street tires, but I think the wheels exclude me from the tire class? So, where should I be running? Thanks, and I'll see you out there soon. www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=224194

Awesome job on the build Matt! I'm lovin having another Bimmer in the CCR fold. I'm not an expert on modified classing, but I'm pretty sure the engine swap sends you to SSM. As for running Tire: ccrscca.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=solo2&action=display&thread=5073I think you can... I would run your street tires for 5-6 events to get some seat time. But with your mod level, I'd plan on getting another set of wheels and some R-comps eventually. Just my 2 cents worth. Welcome to the addiction!

Thanks guys, I guess I'll have to look at what fits best with the competition.
Eric, thanks for the advice. That's actually similar to what I already had in mind, though I hadn't considered R-comps yet. I don't really have the funds for an additional set of wheels/tires at this point, so I'm planning to just run the clapped out all seasons I have now until they die, and when they give out put on some azeni's.

Keep an eye on ebay and the forums for used R-comps... a set of BFG R1's or Conti's with 20 laps will last a LONG time on an Autocross car.. No- they are not Hoosiers, but it's way better than street tires.
The hot ticket for street tires would be Dunlop Dirrezza Star Specs..
