After discussions at the CCR Awards Banquet Saturday, we decided to add another PAX class for those that want to compete against more drivers and are just not up to the level of the Pro Class.
However we are undecided on what to call it.
Intermediate? Amateur? Option?
Thoughts on the name anyone?
And any complaints about the class PM me.

I think you guys made the best choice.
As far as names, how about "Welterweight" or "Free-For-All" or "Open-PAX"

I think intermediate. Because when someone wins. It has more weight. Like pro class. When you say I won first in pro. It's sounds better than just saying I won first in open pax. I think that for who ever wins, it's prestigious. And it should be something respectful. Not just something like open pax.

Just not a fan of an "I" being on the side of the car
I like "O"pen better. or "O"ption

I like intermediate for the name
as for the letter on the car, wouldn't an "O" look like a zero?
Suggestion: open event #1 registration ASAP so folks can register, see how others in their class register and decide accordingly which way to go - there's already a whole other thread on that subject for one class.
Cheers, Jack Mc

If you would give us a heads up before you open reg. like say it will open at 5pm Friday. Because the first event registers your car number for the year.

Well your not going to be in the "O"pen class anyways. So you don't have to fret

I thought "open" refered to regular SCCA (non-pax) classing? IE: "Open C-Stock".
I vote Intermediate, using a capital "I".
I will probably run in this class, since I may do some car hopping later in the year. So Z3elda would be a "CSI" :-)

I assume we are still doing Tire sub-class right? And we aren't changing and rules/classing within Tire to try to follow the RT structure are we?

I'm not gung-ho either way, but I'm leaing toward capital "I" for Intermediate.
I also plan to run this class and like the idea that I will be able to change my prep and/or cars during the season and still be able to accumulate points towards this PAX class.

Do timing people have any issue with "I" and it being similar to a 1? Intermediate does explain best what the class is about. Anybody running B-Mod "IBM" And sorry Travis I fret because I have to. Andy, we thought to leave Tire as is. RT is still a PAX class with no difference between RTA, RTF and RTR as far as PAX is concerned. But the RT classes do not account for non-stock cars like yours, and you deserve a place to play.

I prefer 'I' as well. I like the idea of calling it Intermediate and in doing so I feel like it will make more want to participate and make a go of it rather than running open class with their typical 0-2 competitors.
I also feel like adding an 'I' for people that have their magnets made already may be easier than adding an 'O'. Like in my case i had some extra scrap white magnet material, i can just cut a couple 'I's out of it and sharpie them for color and throw them on if i choose to do so.
Might want to make it a rule that the 'I' or 'O', or w/e the case may be, be placed on the side of the class letters opposite the numbers (ie. IESP49 or 49ESPI) to downplay confusion...just a thought. The class letters are supposed to be smaller by nature anyway so that should help too.

Do timing people have any issue with "I" and it being similar to a 1? As long as the PAX modifier is kept before the class like AJ complains about all the time. ISTX, IBS, ICSP, etc.

Shouldn't the class letters be about half the height of the numbers? If that is followed it should prevent most of the confusion for the corner captains.

Which would be "about half the height"

Wait, let me check your math on that...
8 - 4 = 4
4 + 4 = 8
Yes, you are correct, carry on.

oops .... eyes have gotten old suddenly (or maybe the brain) ... read that post as saying they should be the same size as the numbers, when in fact , as all ya-ll have pointed out, it actually did say half ... where's the embarrassed emoticon when you need it ?

isn't/wasn't RT specifically for the stock class cars ( the extra PAX # being applied to the already PAX time for said classes ) ? and Tire class for all others that wanted to run street tires instead of r-comps ?
